There’s a very good chance I’ll never finish . I inadvertently spoiled its New Game+ twist for myself, and I was really only playing the game for its story as I’ve found the rest of it to be shockingly boring. Not even the introduction of (spoiler!) magic powers could make Starfield any more fun, considering its bad UI, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:dreary side missions, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:abundance of fetch quests, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:resistance to my roleplaying style, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:lack of likable characters.
The only thing keeping me playing is the fact it’s on Xbox Game Pass, so I can play while lying in bed under the covers. I’ve been thinking of going back to Baldur’s Gate 3 for weeks, but the thought of planting my butt in my somewhat uncomfortable desk chair is making me opt🐠 for the path of least resistance – which is Starfield, in bed. Sorry, Karlach - I’ll be back in your fiery arms soon enough.

Baldur’♏s Gate 3 Co-Op? Nah. Baldur’♏s Gate 3 Parallel Play? Yeah.
Larian's RPG is great in co-op, but even better playing side-by-side with a frꦍiend in a separate campaign.
Because of that, I’ve been trying to find Starfield’s redeeming qualities. If I’m going to be too lazy to sit in front of my PC, I might as well make the most of it. I find myself sinking into the smaller details, delighting in side missions that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:surprise me with their 💙emotional weight or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:🔜play with genre conventions🌟 in an interesting way. I try to enjoy the descriptions of items and read the text in every book I pick up. I visit 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:familiar spots on Earth and sit with the possibility of a landmark persistingꩲ long after the human race is goneꦉ. And when I find a character that strikes me as remotely interesting or compelling, I cling onto them as much as I can.
I’ve previously written about how Starfield has no compelling or likeable characters, and I’m glad to announce that I was wrong – I’ve found one. In my pursuit of a decent storyline, I joined every faction I could (apart from the pirates, I haven’t had the opportunity yet). Because I joined Ryujin and did a mission or two, I got to chat with Lane Garza, the Ryujin receptionist. Lane is exactly the kind of person I hang out with in real life. He handles appointments and information with extreme competence and doesn’t look down🍌 his nose at other people. He left home to pursue a life more to his tastes. He realised early a party life wasn’t for him, as he’s a creature of comfort, and decided to live vicariously through others instead.
Most importantly, he’s always down to gossip. Ask him what the latest news is, and he might shoot you a knowing look (as much as Bethesda’s frozen facial animations allow) and start chattering away about the latest development. He reminds me exactly of at least three of my queer friends who, in their professional lives, are on the top of their game, and in their personal lives, are always down to sit down and talk shit over a meal. Voiced by Avi Roque, who plays Ra༺ine Whispers in The Owl House, Lane’s d♓eliveries are always perfectly comedically timed and beautifully delivered.
Lane makes me think back to my days as an administrative assistant in a Big Four accounting firm when I’d 🤪hang out by the receptionists’ desks just to talk shit all day. There are very few characters whose backstories I care about, or who I find interesting enough to want to talk to at all, but Lane reminds me of the people I love most. Give me more Lane Garza, I’m begging! Nobody else in the galaxy wants to gossip with me.
