Blizza🌞rd’s lead designer confir🌳med that D.Va is the top played character in Overwatch across all skill levels.

There’s no denying that D.Va is popular. Along with Reaper and Genji, s🥂he has more memes featuring her as a Dorito-scarfing gamer-gremlin than any other Overwatch character. But it turns out that Dඣ.Va’s popularity is more than just the fact she’s a teenage professional gamer with a fictional YouTube following to rival the Kardashians.

Turns out D.Va is just plain good. That’s why she’s at the t🐭op of the list of played characters across Overwatch’s many leagues.

In a recent forum post discussing the “”, Overwatch’s lead designer Jeff Kaplan swept in t൩o dro🐼p a list of top 10 characters per skill league. D.Va topped the list in all but two skill levels--Platinum and Diamond league--where D.Va came in second.

While D.Va is clearly the top choice for all skill levels, the list does shed some insight into character skill caps. D.Va is not onlꩲy easy to play, as evident by the fact she sees the most play in Bronze and Silver leagues, but she’s also highly effective in the hands of a veteran as evident by her supremacy in Master and Grand Master.

There’s a few other 🅺interesting notes on Kaplan’s data dump. Some characters make the top 10 in the Masters and Grand Masters but disappear by the time you get to Bronze and Si♊lver, such as Tracer, Winston, and Zenyatta.

Meanwhile the oppꦛosite can be said for Junkrat, who sees less and less play as one climbs the skill rankings until by Platinum league he disapp♛ears from the top 10 list altogether.

A few other characters hit the to🎉p 10 across all levels of play. Nobody is surprised to find Genji, Mercy, or Roadhog, three characters that have been dominant in competitive play for some time, but newcomer Moira is surprising to find a few months after her release. This likely means that she has the same design elements as D.Va does.

One thing from the list is🍒 for sure: much like trickle-down econo🐠mics, the trickle-down meta doesn’t exist.
