Romancing characters provides you with a deeper insight into their backstory, their day-to-day activities, their personality, and unlocks a second series of quests with them. In this guide, we'll go over the characters available to romance, how to unlock a character's romance, how to increase your romance with them, and how to obtain a character's pin.
How To Begin A Romance With A Character
Of the 24 Villagers in the game, a total of nine of them are available as a potential Romance interest for you:
- Einar
- Jina
- Hassian
- Tish
- Kenyatta
- Nai'o
- Jel
- Reth
- Tamala
To begin a romance with any of them, you first need to reach friendship level three with them. This can be done by speaking to them at least once each day, giving them liked items, and asking them about and fulfilling their weekly wants.
Completing quests given by them or associated with them, s♋uch as Discovery quests, also increases their relationshi♏p.
Once you reach level three, you'll be able to gift them either a Box of Chocolates, purchased from Zeki's General Store or a , an extremely rare gatherable itemꦯ you can find in💯 Bahari Bay.
They'll accept your gift, and you'll officially enter into a Romance with them.
You can be in multiple Romances with multiple characters simultaneously as long as you've reached level three with any of them.
How To Increase Romance With A Character
There are three ways to increase your romance with any character: flirting with them, completing their Romance quests, and gifting them a Box of Chocolates or Heartdrop Lily.
If you're romancing a character, you'll gain a new dialogue option with them called Flirting, and this can be performed once a day like with chatting. Each daily Flirting interaction increases their Romance level by a small amount.
Starting at Romance level two, you'll be able to begin getting romance quests from characters and completing these will provide a boost in your romance level like how friendship quests increase 🦋friendship levels.
Using your daily gift to give your romanced character a Box of Chocolates or a Heartdrop Lily will also increase their romance level.
Einar's level two romance quest must be started by gifting him another Box of Chocolates, as it will not appear otherwise. He may occasionally mention chocolate after reaching romance level 🌱two via dialogue as a hint.
How To Obtain A Character's Romance Pin
Each romanceable character has a Romance Pin you can unlock and equip, much like a fishing tool🀅 or bobber for your rod.
Upon reaching romance level three with a character and completing the accompanying quest, you'll receive their Pin. You can hold multiple Pins, but only two can be equipped at one time.
The Pin more officially signifies you as being in a romance with them. Having it equipped allows you to get special dialogue from the other Villagers about your romantic relationship with said character.
Getting a Romance pin for the first time also unlocks the What Brings Us Together accomplishment.
