After just three days, Palworld is one of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Steam's most-played games of all time and has 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:sold four million copies, despite also being available on Xbox Game Pass. But there is one console it hasn't braved yet, the PS5.
PlayStation head of indies Shuhei Yoshida replied to Palworld's announcement that it had sold one million copies in just eight hours to congratulate the team, to which one fan replied asking for a PS5 version. Yoshida simply responded, "Yes", tagging Jingwen Zhu who works in PlayStation partner development.
𝓰Mr. Yoshida, please support SIE so that the PS5 version can be released as soon as possible!
It's understandable that PlayStation would want a breakout hit like Palworld on its platform, given 'Pokemon with guns' was enough to dethrone 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, PUBG, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Apex Legends, Naraka: Bladepoint, GTA 5, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Baldur's Gate 3. At the time of writing, it's still at the top of the charts with 910,000 concurrent players. And that's on a Monday morning.
It's worth noting that Palworld is also available on Xbox One, so if it does come to PlayStation, it would likely be cross-generation. There's also no exclusivity deal with Microsoft, so it's free to launch on other consoles at any time. Fans have even been asking for Switch ports on the game's subreddit.
It's not just PlayStation that has spoken about this possibility, either, as Palworld posted a FAQ on the game's Steam page, addressing fans who want to see the game on PS5. "We don't have plans for this at the moment, but will consider it during development!" The game is currently in early access (hence why it's marked as a "preview" on Game Pass), so perhaps we'll see it release on PS5 when it leaves.
Of course, Palworld isn't without its controversy. Many have called out its monster designs for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:looking suspiciously🃏 similar to existing Pokemon, labeling them as "stolen" and "lazy". This has sparked some to dig into developer Pocketpair's library, finding a Breath of the Wild knockoff. The CEO has also made posts in the past about designing new Pokemon with AI tools, supporting the use of software that scrapes artists' work without consent. However, there is no proof that Palworld used AI art during development.
Regardless, the game isn't slowing down, jumping from one million sales within eight hours to four million by the end of the weekend. It hasn't even been out for a week, so we'll no doubt see that number continue to skyrocket.
