In these situations, if you still want to attempt capturing the pal, you have to make use of the Back Bonus. This bonus triggers when you hit the pal with a sphere from their back without them noticing. Keep in mind that you can't use this if you're in a battle with the pal or if they notice you, which is displayed by a que♚stion mark on their head.
Back Bonus gives a significant increase to your capture rate and it also reduces the chances of your sphere bouncing off the pal's body. However, if your first attempt w♔ith the Back Bonus fails, the target pal will start attacking you, making it impossible to try again.
You can avoid the pal's aggro by waiting for nighttime and using the Back Bonus when they're asleep.
This can prevent them from attacking you even if the capture fails, but you can't use this method on night p🔯als.
Traps And Status Effects Can Increase Your Rate
Various traps and status effects are some of the most underrated mechanics in Palworld, especially when it comes to capturing high-level pals. As you level up in the game, you can make various bear traps to immobilize certain pals for a few seconds. You can also make items like mines or weapons to apply various status effects.
Some of these effects include burning, frozen, or electrocuted.
Apart from that, you can also apply these status effects on enemies using certain pal abilities. Whenever an enemy is trapped or has one of these effects, the capture rate for that pal increases. You can see this increase by aiming the at 🍎them before and after the effect, and this mechanic can easily save you a ton of pal spheres in certain situations.
The Tier And Quantity Of Spheres Matter
Finally, the most important thing when you're trying to capture a specific pal is to keep in mind the type and number of pal spheres you have. For example, you won't be able to capture a level 40 pal usin🐬g a basic or Mega Sphere. Similarly, it's a waste to try and capture a level ten pal while using a high-tier sphere.
As you level up and unlock newer items, you'll be able to craft high-tier spheres. However, these also take a ton of materials that can be quite difficult to farm. All of this comes together to make it 🍎important to consider your sphere management.
It's also recommended to have a good number of spheres from each type in your inventory in case you get unlucky.
These spheres don't weigh a lot, and it feels quite bad if you end up missing a rare pal capture just because you didn't have enough spheres.
