Paradox Interactive has Iceflake Studios, continuing its trend of acquiring well-performing organizations with which they have been or are currently still collaborating with. The Finnish developer, Iceflake Studios, is hard at work on Surviving the Aftermath, a strategy building title set in a post-apocalyptic world currently in Steam Early access and Xbox Game Preview.

The acquisition should not be surprising for those who have followed Paradox Interactive over the last decade. Their strategy has often been to establish strong ties with a studio, then acquire them when the relationship proves viable for the long term. The genre of Surviving the Aftermath also fits into the grand strategy games that have made Paradox well known among its consumer base. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Stellaris, Europa Universalis, and the Hearts of Iron series are outstanding games within the genre, and all fall within 💧the catalogue oꦉf Paradox Interactive.

Paradox has also expanded into other genres with great success. Some of its most popular games are Cities: Skylines, which is more of a simulation and management game than a strategic builder, and the popular RPG 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pillars of Eternity.

The acquisition now means that Paradox Interactive is operating internationally across nine studios, with its most recent acquisitions being Iceflake Studios, Payrion Game Studio, and Harebrai🐻ned Schemes. It continues to ex🍸pand its own internal operations as well, with Paradox Tinto opening this past month in Barcelona.

The news is equally as exciting fo﷽r board game fans because Paradox has also made the strategic move of adapting many of its grand strategy games from video to boardgame. The move from one to the other is a natural fit, as fans of tabletop gaming appreciate the strategic gameplay needed to win.

Terraforming Mars and Imperial Settlers are perfect examples of games that share many characteristics and themes in their core gameplay as the strategy games developed by Paradox, and so it makes sense for them to adapt Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron, and Cities: Skylines. If Surviving the Aftermath performs well upon formal release from a critical and commercial perspective, it would 🌌not be surprising to see it adapted as well to a board game.
