Payday 3 finally has a release date, launching on September 21, and it's even heading to Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost.

Developer Starbreeze Studios finally pulled back the curtain to show us the long-awaited sequel to the immensely popular Payday 2. As you'd expect, there's a lot of frantic gunplay, stealth, and co-op action as squads band together to pull off elaborate heists. Word of warning, though, if Payday 2 is anything to go by, an all-out gunfight with a neverending horde of cops isn't the best way to go. You'll probably just piss your friends off.

"Thanks to years of experience and a mysterious new player in the criminal underworld, they quickly get their hands on the first lucrative heists and leave their explosive calling card with the city's security and police forces," Starbreeze said in a press release.

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Payday 3 started development again in December of last year, and it was announced shortly after that there would be a gameplay reveal in the Summer - here we are. After seven years of waiting, fans are understandably excited. After all, it was first announced back in 2016 after Starbreeze acquired the IP, and it's been even longer since Payday 2 launched - an entire decade.

There were fears that the game would be quietly cancelled and shoved aside after years of no updates, but we found out two years ago that it's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:finally, actually happening. If it sticks the landing, it'll launch this year, meaning that two sequels with lengthy developments and a lot of doubt surrounding their launch will have come out together, the other being Dead Island 2. What a year, eh?

Interestingly, Payday 3 is set in a "living, enormous" New York City, rather than Payday 2's menu-based level selection that centred on Washington DC and the original Payday's fictional Newport City and Miami. You can expect to find the game tackling subjects like cryptocurrency and mass surveillance, making it feel all the more relevant. As for where Payday 3 fits into the wider story, it's set a few years after P2, with characters like Dallas, Hoxton, Chains, and Wolf coming out of retirement to relive their glory days.

While it'll be free with Xbox Game Pass, Payday 3 is available to for £34.99. Alternatively, you can pick up the Silver Edition for £59.99 or the Gold Edition for £79.99. Each nets its own special bonus content, the ability to play three days early (if you pre-order), and the season pass. However, that season pass only lasts six months, and will comprise of two heists, tailor packs, and weapon packs. Gold will instead get you the year-long season pass, which comes with two more heists.
