The announcement was made during today's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate "Mr. Sakurai Presents a Fighter from ARMS" live stream. Though the focus of the event was regarding Min Min's addition as a playable fighter, the Smash se♏ries director and producer Masahrio Sakurai dropped some additional news at the end of the stream for fans of Joker and Hero.
Around the fifty-fꦺive minute of the live stream, Sakurai grabbed a sample of the upcoming Joker amiibo, which he said has been sent to him from Nintendo.
The Joker amiibo depicts the character in his signature Phantom Theif getup, with a black longcoat, red gloves, and dagger. A blue piece, rﷺeminiscent of the smoke that appears during his persona awakening, stands up upright. "I think it's of great quality," Sakurai said, "It's supported by the transparent part. And these details! [...] I'm glad I can admire this model at home. It's niceꦜ."
After revealing Joker's design,𝕴 Sakurai then posed a question: "Since the amiibo for Joker is confirmed, what about the other DLC fighters?" He then went on to say, "Naturally, I'm sure you'd assume Hero would be next." He then placed the Joker model down and grabbed another amiibo, this time of Hero.
Hero can be seen in his signature purple and grey outfit, with green shoes, as well as 🅘hi🧜s sword and shield.
Nintendo's release of Joker and Hero amiibo mark the first characters from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass DLC to receive their own amiibo. So are these two characters the start of future amiibo productions for DLC fighters? It looks like that's the case, as Sakurai stated in the livestream, "We [Nintendo] plan to continue producing future amiibo for DLC fighters." He did warn viewers that at this time, there is no indication of how many DLC fighter amiibo will be produced🍌, so he asks that they stay tuned for future announcements.
The Joker anℱd Hero amiibo are slated for a Fall 2020 release. At this time, they are only a♓vailable for pre-order on ; though it's likely that will change as their release dates get closer.
