In this sce💛ne, which takes place in a rehab center, two adults are talking about their latest how their latest arrival is leaving in a month. They discuss how this person had lived in the facility when he was a child with his mother. The female adult explains that the recent patient has some "unfinished" business in Tokyo, explaining why he's lea🌳ving.

Suddenly, Akechi, a character who had been presumed de🐭ad, then reveals himself by calling out to the adults, 🦋asking them to stop prying. Though he physically remains hidden during the scene, he continues to speak to the adults.

The male adult goes on to comment about "some guy who took care of him [Akechi] in Tokyo" and how Akechi𝐆 now wants "to return the favor." After recounting his experience coming back to the rehab center, Akechi then ends the conversation by stating, "If things to go plan, that guy, and his friends... Each of them will be thankful to me for a lifetime." Though he doesn't say his name directly, the audience knows that "this guy" is Joker.

Those who've played Royal will remember that in final palace rule𝐆r Maruki's "ideal" reality, Akechi turned himself in to the authorities on Christmas Eve to save Joker from prison. In the "real" world, Joker went to prison and everyone assumed Akechi had died in Shido's palace. However, according🥃 to this cut scene, Akechi escaped death and instead checked into a rehab facility on Christmas Eve.

This deleted scene would have taken place during Royal's True Ending in the interim 🍷between Joker'ဣs arrest and his release from juvie, likely sometime in February. Specifically, it would've occurred during the montage when all of Joker's confidants fight for him.

Since the scene's discovery, fans have been debating whether or not this means♉ Akechi is still alive. Some have argued that, because the scene was ultimately cut it's not canon;𒈔 however, others see it as confirmation that a fan-favorite character - whose survival was teased at the end of the game's True Ending - is definitely still alive.

Atlus has not officially commen♚ted on🔥 the scene at this time.

Persona 5 Royal is ꦆavailable now, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
