Elder Scrolls fans are petitioning Bethesda to have an 82-year-old grandmother immortalized as a follower in The Elder Scrolls 6.
Some of you might already be familiar with Shirley Curry, the 82-year-old grandmother that rose to internet fame as the oldest person in history to record herself playing Skyrim and then posting it to YouTube.
Those videos, by the way, are some of the most wholesome things you’ll ever see online. She be🉐gins each video by saying hello to her “grandkids” and even in the heat of combat she n🦋ever stoops to cursing at her digital foes.
She’s still playing Skyrim over on her , although these days she’s taken to branching off into The Call of Cthulu in addition to dragon slaying since it seems like TESVI isn’t going to arrive for quite some time.
And that’s sort of the problem. Shirley is 82 years old, which is already past the life expectancy of the average woman in the United States. Now, Shirley is a spry old bird and we’re not expecting her to keel-over for many years to come, but at the same time, we’re not expecting TESVI to come any time soon either.
Most gamers don’t have ⛎to worry about living long enough to see a sequel of their fಞavorite game.
One Reddit user actually on the Skyrim subreddit, which caused a wave of emotion that eventually ended in another Reddit user to get Shirley immortalized as a follower in TESVI.
It wouldn’t be the first time: Bethesda did the same thing with Erik West, an Oblivion fan that died of cancer shortly before Skyrim released. They immortalized him as Erik the Slayer, a companion you can get in Skyrim.
A petition calling on Bethesda to give Shirley the Erik treatment is currently at 3,500 signatures of the 5,000 needed. You can help out by adding your name to the list and admitting to yourself that you would definitely want an 80-year-old sword-wielding grandmother on your side when you’re taking on whatever horrors TESVI throws at you.
