Xbox head Phil Spencer has revealed via Twitter that Xbox will honor all pre-existing agreements between Sony and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Activision Blizzard whilst also expressing his "desire" to keep 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles. In a tweet from his p꧙rofessional Twitter account, Spencer reveals talks have been heܫld between Xbox and Sony and comments on their relationship.
"Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony," explains Spencer. "I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreement෴s upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship."
This doesn't outright confirm that Call of Duty will remain on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation consoles, but it does put the ball in Sony's court. We don't know Microsoft's terms for keeping Call of Duty on PlayStation, and it's possible that Sony could reject any proposition that Microsoft puts forward. For example, having 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox Game Pass on PS5 would theoretically allow Call of Duty games to be on PlayStation, but isn't exactly favorable terms for Sony.
Spencer's comments come shortly after a Sony spokeperson recently stated that Sony expects Xbox to fulfill its contractual ob💛ligations regarding certain Activision Blizzard properties coming to PlayStation. Sony saw itself in a similar position after Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, with both Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo already confirmed as timed exclusives for PS5. Just like with both of those titles, it seems like Xbox is going to honor any pre-existing agreements.
As for the future of Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles, it's still up in the air. This news doesn't confirm anything and could easily go in the opposite direction if talks between Sony and Microsoft break down. We'll likely learn a lot more over the coming year as the deal b🐼etween Microsoft and Activision Blizzard doesn't officially go through until next year. Still, at least we know now that Xbox wants Caܫll of Duty on PlayStation, whether Sony a🦄llows it is another question entirely.
