Xbox ꦅCEO Phil Spencer has said that Xbox is "evaluating all aspects of our relationship with Activision Blizzꩲard and making ongoing proactive adjustments" following the ongoing allegations levelled against Activision Blizzard and Bobby Kotick.
Following allegations of toxic workplace 🌳culture raised against Activision Blizzard earlier this year, it has promised that changes would be coming to the studio and for its employees. Despite these promises of change, it was recently reported that CEO Bobby Kotick allegedly kneꦕw about the sex💜ual harassment and misconduct happening at Activisioᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ🍸ᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚn Blizzard and reportedly defended offenders.
Following this, pressure has been applied to Activision Blizzard to remove Bobby Kotick from his position, despite the Activision board defending him. Key figure💎s in the gaming industry are starting to speak out against Kotick and Activision Blizzard, including Xbox CEO Phil Spencer.
, Phil Spencer spoke to his staff in a studio-wide email, saying that he was "disturbed and deeply 🌳troubled by the horrific events and actions" and that Xbox is "evalu༒ating all aspects of our relationship with Activision Blizzard and making ongoing proactive adjustments".
Spencer also said that Acti♕vision Blizzard "has not done enough to address a deep-seated culture of discrimination and harassment" and that "this type of behaviour has no place in our industry".
Spencer has since confirmed that the leaked email is real , saying "I personally have strong values for a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of our employees at Xbox. This is not a destination but a journey that we will always be on🌱. The leadership at Xbox and Microsoft stand by our teams and support them in building a safer environment for all".
In response to the statement, an Activision Blizzard spokesperson said, "We respect all feedback from our valued part♎ners and are engaging with them further. We have detailed important changes we have implemented in recent weeks, and we will continue to do so. We are committed to the work of ensuring our culture and workplace are safe, diverse, and inclusive. We know it will take time, but we will not stop until we have the best workplace for our team."
