The fans of old school isometric PC RPGs will soon be able to enjoy Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition on the go, as the game is co⛄ming to the Nintendo Switch ꧅on August 8.

Pillars of Eternity was originally a game that was funded through Kickstarter, with the promise of creating a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series, as well as titles like Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment. It's set in the fantasy world of Eora, where the main character is struck by a curse that transforms them into a Watcher - someone with the pow♉er to see the memories of others. It's up to the player to gather a party of adventurers and venture fo꧅rth on a quest to break their curse.

Pillars of Eternity was originally released for PC in 2015, with ports being released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017. The Nintendo Switch version of the game will allow the player to control the game using the Joy-Cons. It's notable that the PC version of Pillars of Eternity still lacks any official controller support, but the PlayStation 4/Xbox One versions of the game were praised for how well the gameplay was adapted to be used with controllers. The question now is whether the remastered versions of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape Torment will hold up in the same way?

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition isn't the only game in the series that will be making its way to a Nintendo system, as Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is also due to be released for the Switch in 2019. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire was critically acclaimed, but it sold poorly on PC, so it might be up to the console audience to help elevate a game that is based on the cl🃏assic PC RPGs of old.

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition will 💞be released for the Nintendo Switch on August 8, 2019.
