The upcoming Captain Marvel film has found its composer, and fans of Fortnite should be extra excited.
Pinar Toprak has signed on to score the film, which marks Marvel Studios’ first film to be scored by a female compose𒐪r in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 10-year history.
The announcement came via a post on Toprak’s Instagram profile, in which she expressed excitement and gratitude towar💮ds those who helped her land the role for the film slated for a March 8, 2019 release.
“I'm so thrilled to finally announce that Iܫ will be scoring the u𓄧pcoming CAPTAIN MARVEL,” Toprak wrote. “Iᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚt’s an incr꧒edible honor to be a part of the Marvel Universe. So many thoughts racing through my head. And the main one is gratitude.”
Topraജk surely had a leg up on the competition thanks to her involvement with Syfy’s Krypton, as well as her work in last year’s Justice League. Gamers are also sure to be familiar with Toprak, as she previously teamed🥀 ℱup with Fortnite, helping to provide the score for season three of the popular battle royale game. Her score can be heard☂ in Fortnite's single-൲player "Save the World" campaign, as well as while browsing the menu scre꧙en.
In her post, Toprak also thanked Captain Marvel’s co-directors, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Boden will 𝓡be the first woman to direct an MCU film; a film which also happens to be the first MCU movie to feature a female character as the leading role.
It makes sense for Marvel Studios to start showcasing more female talent within the MCU, especially considering th🦄e success that was seen with Patty Jenkins’ direction of Wonder Woman. In🎉 addition, Brie Larson, who will play the role of Captain Marvel, has been an outspoken advocate for gender equality and diversification in the film industry, which makes the acquisition of Toprak all the more important.
It appears that Hollywood is in the beginning stages of distinctly highlighting women’s roles within the industry; something of which the gaming industry should take note.
