Insomniac and PlayStation are teasing a Sunset Overdrive port/remaster with images depictiꦅng a crossover between it and Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart.
The first image posted on Insomniac's official account shows Ratchet using the Ryno 8 to open a dimensional rift, closely followed by another image forty minutes later showing Fizzie from Sunset Overdrive. For tho🧸se that haven't played the game, Fizzie is a giant murderous blimp that the player fights in the first Sunset Overdrive game. Having the character appear in a Ratchet and Clank crossover could potentially mean the announcement of a Sunset Overdrive port or sequel could be imminent.
Sunset Overdrive was developed by Insomniac for Microsoft back in 2014, making the game an exclusive to Xbox and PC. However, when Sony's acquired Insomniac in 2019, the licensing rights for Sun✨set Overdrive came with it, meaning that the franchise now belongs to Sony. PlayStat🌠ion fans have been wondering whether Sony is working to port/remaster Sunset Overdrive for PlayStation systems, and today's tweets from Insomniac are the clearest indica𒀰tion yet that it might happen.
It was hinted at quite recently that Sony had plans for the Sunset Overdrive franchise when the company 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:registered a trademark last month. Of course, a company registering a trademark doesn't necessarily mean it's working on a game but put that piece of news together with this on🐻e and it's practically confirmed that Sunset Overdrive is coming back in some capacity, whether that be a port or a sequel.
In regards to a potential sequel, Insomniac's creative director Marcus Smith recently spoke in an interview about how much he'd like to make one, claiming 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:"there's nothing really stopping us."
While the image tweeted by Insomniac could also be teasing a potential sequel to Sunset Overdrive, it's more than likely a port since the original game is still exclusive to Xbox and PC. Having Sunset Overdrive 2 on a system where the first game wouldn't be available is unlikely, and Sony could be using this port to gauge interest in whether a൲ sequel would be commercially viable.
Whatever the case, we may not have to wait long to find ouℱt. PlayStation has confirmed that it will have a presence at Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest which kicks off on June 10th. If Sony has anything to announcౠe, it's likely going to be announced there.
