This year marks the 20th anniversary of the PS2 globally. In its twenty years, this system has gone into legendary status as one of the biggest success stories of all time. It had tonsꦯ of great games that would later blossom into series for future PlayStation consoleဣs. However, a lot of games and series seemingly died on the PS2 as well.

This just proves that even the greatest accomplishments can be bogged down by some blemishes. For example, PlayStation’s exclusive snowboarding series, Cool Boarders, died on the PS2 but not with the game most people ♊know. It, and many other franchises, had sequels on the system released elsewhere in the world which made them less known, at least until today.

10 Cool Boarder🐈s: Code Alien

Cool Boarders Code Alien art and screenshots

This is a tale of two exclusives. On October 23, 2000, North America got Cool Boarders 2001 for both the PS1 and PS2; meanwhile, on D𝓀ecember 21, 2000, Cool Boarders: Code Alien ꦇreleased in Japan.

That makes it the last game in the series to ever be released. And no, it has nothing to do with aliens. Even though 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:it was a Japanese exclusive, Code Alien is pretty easy to play for♔ non-Japanese speakꦇers.

9 𒈔 ꦯAltered Beast

Altered Beast art and screenshots

Altered Beast was released in both Europe and Japan in 2005. It is essentially a reboot of the original arcade and Sega Genesis hit, with the game🐟 playing very similarly to God of War.

That is to say, it is a brawler but with more emphasis on ༒combos. Why this got an English trans✤lation in Europe but not North America is beyond anyone’s guess, although reviews perhaps had something to do with it. Overall, Altered Beast received a mediocre reception.

8 Metal Slug 💃

Metal Slug 2006 art and screenshots

Metal Slug, often referred to as Metal Slug ‘06 due to its release date in Japan, was a full-on 3D shooter. It was the first and last entry in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:run and gun series to try something like this.

It wasn’t trying to be a gritty reboot either and featured all the whacky action one would expect from a Metal Slug game. It’s curious why this never came out in the 🍃West 🌸as most of the text is in English and the voices are dubbed.

7 ꦉ Seaman 2: Pekin Genjin Ikusei Kit ♑

Seaman 2: Pekin Genjin Ikusei Kit was a late PS2 release, coming out towards the end of 2007. For some context, the original game launched in 2000 for the Dreamcast and was ported to the PS2 in 2001, although that was only 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:released in Japan.

There were plans for a 3DS port as well b🐼ut it was canceled. As for the game itself, Seaman is notorious for being a weird simulator and its sequel is even stranger.

6 Siren 2

2006's Siren 2 was released not just in Japan but also in Australia and Europe. Forbidden Siren was actually theཧ Eur𒐪opean name, with Siren being the main franchise title for both Japan and North America.

These Sony exclusives are 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:heightened by Japanese mythology and unlike other horror games such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill, players cannot really fight back. The Siren titles are intense experiences and the world co❀uld use another entry or at least a remaster of the second game.

5 𒅌 Ka 2: ဣLet's Go Hawaii

Like Seaman, the original Mister Mosquito becamꦯe infamous for being a strange game. Think of it like Shadow of the Colossus, only with players taken on the role of a mosquito who must suck the blood from a much larger Japanese family without getting caught.

In the 2003 sequel, the Yamadas are on vacation while another family, the Browns, are also introduced. One funny bit about the🐼 Browns is that there is a girl named Aerith, a reference Final Fantasy VII fans might enjoy.

4 ꩲ Tenshi no Present: Marl Okoku Monogatari

This is a bit of an obscure pull but Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure needs to be remembered. It released in 2000 for North America and was the first and only game in the Mark Kingdom series to be published 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:outside of Japan.

Tenshi no Present: Marl Okoku Monogatari is the third game. What made the original so unique was that it was a legitimate combination of an RPG and a musical. That tone shifted in the seq🧜uels, but they are stil🃏l worth looking into.

3 🌠 Shining Wind

Shininﷺg Wind was yet another late PS2 release that launched in 2007. This is the direct sequeꦺl to Shining Tears, which did release in North America in 2005.

Unlike how the Shining series began, both of these games are action RPGs similar to the Tales series although not in 2D at this point. There was even a crossover anime to unite both games called Shini𝓡ng 🦂Tears X Wind.

2 Front Mission 5: Scars of the W🐭ar

Front Mission 4 was released in 2004 in North America and was the last entry in the series to make it outside of Japan for quite some time. Most of this Square Enix tactical mech RPG series remains 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:under Japanese exclusivity, including this 2005 sequel.

That sܫaid, because Front Mission fans are so dedicated, many of th🐽e entries have received fan patches. An English patch for Front Mission 5 has been available since 2009.

1 Resident💛 Evil: Dead Aim 𓆏

Resident Evil Dead Aim art and screenshots

To throw things off a bit from the Japanese exclusivity, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil: Dead Aim was reꦰleased in the West in 2003. It has been forgotten as it has never been re-released unlike many other titles in the franchise.

A light gun game set on a zombie-infested cruise ship, Dead Aim t♍akes place in both third-person and first-person perspectives. It was unique for the genre at the time and actually has some deep Umbrella lore worth diving into.
