Every generation of Pokemon has introduced a new professor. The first is Professor Oak of the Kanto region. Some generations have even introduced more than one through side games, assistant roles🧜, and m🅰ore. Some of these professors are more helpful or interesting than others, though.
So, which professor is the best? Each studies a different field of Pokemon and plays a different role in🧸 your journey. Here is♚ a ranking of all the main-series professors.
Updated July 4, 2023 by Robert Patrick: Several Pokemon games have been released since this list was first written. And with each of these new titles, we've gotten to meet more Pokemon professors! We've updated this article to include these new characters.
12 Elm
Professor Elm, the resident professor of the Johto region, has focused on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon breeding as his field of study. Some fans consider him to be the worst or at least the least fleshed-out. Elm is frequently depicted dropping his pens or with a scatterbrained, fཧrazzled personality.
Other than this, there is little informat💟ion known about the man. Elm makes few appearances throughout the Generation II games, giving the player their starter, an Everstone, and appear𓃲ing at the end to hand out a Master Ball and S.S. Aqua ticket.
11 Magnolia
The resident professor of the Galar region in Sword & Shield, Professor Magnolia specializes in studying the Dynamax phenomenon. Magnolia takes a far more hands-off role than other previous professors. Other than offering a few tips and showing up at some opportune moments, her role is gifting you 🐼the Dynamax Band. Allowing you can utilize Dynamax.
Outside this act, Magnolia leaves other conventional professor duties to other characters. Leon gives you a starter Pokemon, and her granddaughter and eventual successor, Sonia, plays a considerable role in studying and discovering the truth behind the story of the region's past throughout the game.
10 Birch
Specializing in Pokemon habitats is Hoenn's resident professor, Professor Birch. Birth appears to be a relatively relaxed man, though he is forgettable. He's famous for being unable to fend off a small Poochyena on the first Route outside Littleroot Town.
However, he plays more of a role in the game than the past two entries on this list, so he places higher than them. He's notable for giving the player multiple different starters in the remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire after they complete particular prerequisites.
9 Laventon
Introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Professor Laventon has traveled to the Hisui region to join the⛦ Galaxy team and study Pokemon modes of life. Throughout the game, Laventon relies on you to head into the field to research various aspects of the Pokemon that call Hisui home.
He is a generally jolly man. Even when the entirety of Jubilife Village turns on you, Laventon encourages you to clear your name. As mentioned, he is not native to the Hisui region. According to a Pokedex entry, he may be from the Galar region. This is due to his explanation in Copperajah's Pokedex entry that the steel type is from his homeland.
8 Sycamore
As far as professors go, Professor Sycamore is a bit of a heartthrob. This attractive young man is the resident professor of the Kalos region, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:specializing in Mega Evolution.
He plays a far more central role in your journey than many other professors, appearing frequently and assisting in mﷺany situations. He also throws a parade for you when you defeat the Pokemon League, which is rad. Like Birch, he also gives starter Pokemon from another ൲generation at one point.
7 Juniper
Th൩e first professor in the main series to ♔be female is Professor Juniper, a researcher studying the origins of Pokemon in the Unova region. She exudes the air of a calm, cool, and collected personality. Professor Juniper will help you evolve your Pokemon or evaluate your Pokedex with a quick phone call, and she gives you some great TMs when you visit her at certain milestones.
She also comes🃏 from somewhat of a line of researchers, as her father, Cedric Juniper, was also a Pokemon professor. He will meet the player in the Generation V games.
6 Sonia
Sonia is not a professor officially at the start of Sword & Shield, acting instead as her grandmother, Professor Magnolia's assistant. Throughout the events of the games, however, she'll discover her purpose and succeed Magnolia for the position. Upon taking up the role of professor from her grandmother, Sonia specializes in the legends of the Galar region.
Sonia is a great character. She has a clear mission, knows how to get what she wants, and doesn't take no for an answer. Given how driven she is and how much of an airhead Leon is, it's amazing that she bowed to him during the gym challenge in their youth.
5 Rowan
Holding the title of the oldest Pokemon professor, Sinnoh's Professor Rowan is a gruff elderly gentleman. From his refusal to wear a lab coatto his apparent seniority over both Oak and Sycamore, Rowan appears as an engaging character.
Hailing from Sandgem Town, he studies Pokemon evolution, which is fitting considering a good portion of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Generation IV's Pokemon is legacy evolutions for Pokemon from earlier generations. Rowan will gift the player either a Chimchar, Turtwig, or Piplup, three cuties that somehow contrast Rowan's more strict and hard exterior.
4 Burnet
While not strictly a professor in the traditional sense in terms of relationship to your journey, Professor Burnet is still a full-fledged Pokemon researcher. She's the wife of Generation VII's Professor Kukui, and she studies other dimensions.
She has a comforting presence, from her style to her personality, to the fact that she studies extradimensional Pokemon. What's cooler than that? She also takes in Lillie, allowing her to act as her assistant.
3 Sada/Turo
The dual professors o▨f the Paldea region, whether you encounter Sada or Turo depends on which version of the games you get. Professor Sada focuses on researching the past of the Paldea region while Turo looks into the future, both becoming obsessed with their research on encountering Koridon and Miridon.
Sada and Turo's love of their research causes them to neglect their son, Arven, leaving him alone for years. They would, unfortunately, perish protecting one of the legendary Pokemon and be succeeded by an AI copy that remains in area zero.
