This is part 12 of our official Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl complete guide and walkthrough, which picks up after you get the HM for Surf and beat Fantina in Hearthome City. Your next objective is to make your way to Canalave City and take on its gym leader, Byron.
Once you leave Hearthome Gym, you’ll bump into Cynthia yet again. Apparently, her grandmother had quite a lot of nice things to say about you after you scared off that Galactic goon th𒊎reatening to, you know, bomb the place. At this point in the game, it’s beginning to become clear that Cynthia is a) more important than she lets on and b) starting to develop an interest in your endeavors across Sinnoh. She reckons it’s high time you visited Canalave City, the cargo port west of Jubilife.
The next part of your journey should therefore be pretty obvious: head to Canalave. The fastest way to get here is to Fly to Jubilife City and head west to Route 218, which is where we instructed you to catch a Magikarp in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:part two of this walkthrough - 🤪if you’re still with us since then, you’re a real one. There are some trainers you can fight in and along the water, although it’s a pretty straight surf across to Canalave. Once you arrive, be sure to heal your Pokemon as soon as you see the Pokemon Centre - the second you step foot on the bridge linking the two halves of the city, your rival will once again THUD! into you and challenge you to yet another Pokemon battle.
Their team isn’t too different from before, although they’ll now have a fully evolved starter at level 37 and will have picked up a level 32 Heracross to fill their fifth party slot. At this point in the game, you should really have a Staraptor unless you actively hate Flying Pokemon. This is because all of your Flying moves are 4x effective against Hera, which is a pretty hefty type advantage when you consider the fact they also𓆉 🍬benefit from STAB (same-type attack bonus). To put this in context, Wing Attack’s base damage is 60 - against Heracross, it’s 360. Ouch.
Once you beat your rival, you have two options: you can take on the gym or you can head to Iron Island. We’re going to focus on the gym here given that we’re in the process of putting together a whole separate guide on how to get Riolu on Iron Island, so if you’re in the market for a Lucario, be sure to keep an eye out for that. Even if you don’t care for Lucario, Iron Island is worth a visit if you have a Roselia on your team because it’s o💛ne of the earliest locations where you can find a Shiny Stone, allowing you to evolve it into Roserade. For now, though, let’s move on to Byron.
Canalave Gym is an intriguing one, with its core puzzle structure revolving around panels that move vertically between various platfor♒ms. It’s recommended that you fight every single trainer here before taking on Byron given that his Bastiodon is level 39, making it the toughest Pokemon you’ve faced yet. Anyone who chose either Chimchar or Turtwig can make excellent use of Fire, Fighting, and Ground moves here. If you chose Piplup, you’ll definitely want to make sure your party has a couple of decently leveled ‘mons who can make up for the other starters’ absence with the types mentioned above. As long as you’re well prepared, Byron isn’t too difficult to take down - in fact, two of this three Pokemon are 4x weak to Fighting-type moves.
Once you’ve earned the Mine Badge and left the gym, your rival will THUD! into you again - do they ever look where they’re going? Anyway, they reckon you should head to Canalave Library to speak to Professor Rowan. This should be your next objective unless you still haven’t gotten Strength, at which point we suggest you turn back to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:part eight of our walkthrough before progressing to part 13: 1💞68澳洲幸运5开奖网:Canalave Library and what to do at Lake Valor.
