The cancellation of the event comes in the wake of Hong Kong upping its response level to the outbreak to "emergency." reports that 132 people have died from t✤he virus so far, with another 6000 thought to be infected. Everythi𓃲ng and anything is being done to prevent the virus from spreading any further than it already has, including people from other countries having to stay put for longer than they expected.
As frustrating as the Pokémon championships' cancellation will be for those who planned to take part, and others who were going to watch, it's a small price to pay when looking at the bigger picture.
