Now that Game Freak and The Pokémon Company seem absolutely set on the fact that Pokémon is an annual franchise, it's time to look to 2020, and see what the company has on the table for fans this year. Will we get a third version of Sword and Shield? Let's Go 2? The possibilities are absolutely endless, so let's take a look at some ideas for 2020 content that isn't Diamond and Pearl remakes, the one thing that every fan seems t𓄧o think is a safe bet for thi📖s year.

Updated by Colby Tortorici 2/9/2020: With January's Pokémon Direct revealing a lot of what we can expect from the franchise in 2020, we thought we'd take a look back at this article and retool a few of the entires. With DLC and Mystery Dungeon confirmed, along with a third version of Sword and Shield de-confirmed, there are a few more options on what we can expect to see in the rest of the year.

11 ജ New Movies

It has been confirmed Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution is headed stateside with a release on Netflix, and we know that there's a more traditional Pokémon animated movie on the way. It's unlikely that the English version will be out in 2020, but a subbed release is on th♓e table. ☂Along with that, maybe a trailer for the next live-action movie?

10 Pokken 2

Another spin-off that could release, but is probably less likely, is Pokkén Tournament 2. Considering that we got the DX version of the title on Switch just over two years ago now, this seems less likely than Mystery Dungeon. Still, it could happen. We could also get new DLC fighters in the base game. Pokkén isn't a dead franchise yet, so seeing The Pokémon Company support it in any way wouꦚld be just great൩.

9 ꦐ Pokémon Ranger ൲

In the most unlikely of circumstances, we could see a new entry into the long-dormant Pokémon Ranger series. This is a not at🎃 all a likely thing to happen, as we left that franchise on the DS, but there is a very small chance that it could maybe make a return?

It would be cute to see a new entry set in a brand new location that we've never seen before.ꦦ Although, there's something that is a lot more likely to happen than this spin-off being revived.

8 🌱 A Brand New Spin-Off 💧

Via NintenDomaine

We could just end up getting a brand new spin-off game to try out. The Company has done one-off side games in the past, so we could get something like that, or a new spin-off series that will becomღe a franchise of its own. With this possibility in mind, there's no limit to the type of game that we could see release in 2020, it's simply up to what the developers think would be a fun time. H𒀰opefully, it's good enough to keep fans happy until the next mainline game.

7 🌺 Lꦇet's Go 2

Let's Go 2 doesn't seem to be anything that's being worked on as of right now, but it could definitely still happen. A set of Let's Go games set in Johto would certainly be interesting, even if fans would absolutely h✅ate it.

Considering that Diamond and Pearl are actually older than the Johto remakes, this is not something that would be very likely to happen in 2020. If these t𓃲heoretical games were to ever actually release, i♒t would most likely be in 2021 or beyond. Still, Game Freak could pull a very upsetting fast one on us.

6 🃏 A Tabletop Game

If we just want to go completely left field here and suggest something that probably won't happen, what about a tabletop game? Pokémon has done weird little DVD games in the past, so why not venture into other for📖ms of gaming in 2020? It isn't a bad idea, and fans would likely eat it right up. It just probably w🍷on't happen. It doesn't seem to be something that The Pokémon Company is interested in, as they've had years to tackle the tabletop industry with nothing so far.

5 🎉 XD And Colosseum R🌟emakes

Via: Cubed3

When you think about it, though, we could end up with another remake altogether. They could choose any Pokémon game from their extensive catalog. Maybe Colosseum or XD: Gale of Darkness. Maybe another one of the handheld spin-off games, there really are a ton of different choices. This is another option that is less likely than most of the rest of the list. However, this is another choice that would be welcomed by fans. Considering that Colosseum and XD look better than Sword and Shield half the time... it might not be a bad idea.

4 ♉ Detective Pikachu 2 💜

We're getting something from the Detective Pikachu games soon, we know that. What it is exactly is up for debate, but we could very well get it in 2020. It was announced in the second half of 2019 with no trailer to speak of, so we could be a bit further out than one would hope. Or, maybe🔴 they're close ♔to completing it. We'll really have no idea until the developers decide to share a little bit of insight with us.

3 A New TCG Game 𓂃 🤪

Pokémon Trading Card Game Online is fine... but somewhat boring. There was a time when we got TCG games on actual Nintendo systems. Can that happen again? Give us a full TCG story. A new region, some bad guys, rivals, all of it! It would🦩 help to make a TCG game feel so much more memorable than the options that are currently available to us.

2 Pok𝓀émon Snap༺ Remake

Via: Syfy Wire

This one is certainly more on the unlikelier side of things, but like... can we have a Snap remake? Pretty please. Pokémon Snap is such an interesting and strange spin-off game, hಌaving you take pictures of Pokémon rather than capture them, but it was incredibly fun. Seeing a remake o♔r remaster of this game would be great. At this point though, even a rerelease would be nice. Come on Nintendo.
