The internet often likes to position Digimon and Pokemon as warring fan bases that can't co-exist. Conversations revolve around one show being better than the other, or that one ripped o♓ff the other.
It's pretty clear which franchise is more popular, but that doesn't mean Digimon doesn't have a large following itself. Outside of similar names, the series has plenty of creatures that look alike. Let's take a look at 10 Pokemon, through 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Sword & Shield, that have Digimon counterparts.
10 ✤ Ebidramon (Crawdaunt)
Digimon as a franchise made a lot of interesting decisions when it came to the design of its creatures. Some are pretty neat while others seem like children's drawings. Ebidramon, the lobster Digimon, is a rarer case where it simply looks like the creature it was inspired by. The Water and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dark-type Pokemon Crawdaunt is also based on a lobster but features a bit of design flair that makes the creature feel fantastical and capable of powerful moves. Ebidramon on the other hand looks like it should be boiled and se🍌rved as soon as possible.
9 🍸 Tanemon (Oddish)
Tanemon and its Pokemon doppelganger Oddish both happen to be small adorable onion-looking plant creatures. Oddish is a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grass-type who evolves into having the Poison-type as well, which is probably how Tanemon would evolve if it was a Pokemon considering it can turn into Palmon or Floramon. Its four feet and bulbous body make Tanemon look more like a cross between an Oddish and the beloved 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grass-type starter from the Kanto region known as Bulbasaur. A creature who also develops ꦐa secondary Poison-typeꦅ.
8 ✤ Hagur🐲umon (Klinklang)
When Klinkklang was introᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚduced as a Pokemon haters began roasting its design focusing on the fact that it was a living set of gears. It's one of the more common examples people use when defending the argument of how Pokemon designs progressively get worse with each new generation.
The problem there is that Digimon did this design concept already back in the 90s with a creature named Haguru🎃mon. Comparing the two will help build a case for how interesting Klinklang is by comparison.
7 Crabmon (Kingler)ꦏ 🤪
Pokemon is often criticized for losing creativity as the generations have gone on, but Digimon holds the crown for most uninspired and least creative naming conventions. It had a ൲ಌDigimon that looked like a crab that it named Crabmon, which is pretty hilarious. Both Crabmon and its Pokemon counterpart Kingler are crabs, but the former is blue while the latter is crimson red. They both have similar key art though with both crab creatures posing with their larger claw closer to the "camera" in a perspective shot.
6 ꦆ Palmon (Maractus) ♏
Kids who watched Digimon almost certainly know who Palmon is and what it looks like. It'd be hard to ask general Pokemon fans to draw Maractus from memory or even name what generation of games it's from. Palmon's closest doppelgangers in the world of Pokemon are Maractus and Ivysaur, but it's tough to compare it to the latter when it is shaped much more like a human than a quadruped mammal. It's pretty clear that if Palmon was a Pokemon, it would be a Grass and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Poison-type of some sort.
5 🐻 Birdramon (Mo💮ltres)
This doppelganger situation isn't that wild or interesting considering many different anime and cartoons have had a version of the mythical beast known as the phoenix. Both Birdramon and Moltres are giant birds with large cascading wingspans and their bodies are comprised of flames for the most part. Among the 3 legendary birds from Kanto, most fans consider Moltres to have the worst design. For Birdramon it isn't dismissed in the same way, but it certainly isn't making most fan's Top 10 Digimon l♊ists.
4 🌌 T🐼entomon (Ledian)
It's not often that a Digimon will look exactly like a Pokemon, but the former would be the more beloved of the two. Tentomon is a neat ladybug-like Digmon that made that bug cool for a generation of kids. On the other hand, Ledian was a Johto region native 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bug-type Pokemon that most trainers overlo𓃲oked and didn't think twice about.
Ledian is also designed with human proportions whereas Tentomon is much more bulbous, which likely leads to it being more fantastical and interes🙈ting to kids and kids at heart.
3 Pul﷽semo𝔉n (Zeraora)
Coming in next is the newest Digimon on the scene, Pulsemon. This Beast Man Digimon made its debut on December 18th, 2020 in a Digimon Reference book. The most glaring parts of its design are its jagged edges and emphasis on a neon yellow color scheme. The world of Pokemon happens to have a creature with a similar design and that's the mythical Pokemon from the 7th generation of games, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Electric-type Thunderclap Pokemon know𝓀n for its unrivaled speed and tenacity,༺ Zeraora.
2 🐼 Kuwagamon (S🍒cizor)
When someone looks at Scizor it's clear that its design takes a lot of inspiration from armored 🔯beetles. Its base form Scyther is much more grasshopper-like, but once it evolves it seems to have much more in common with formidable beetles. Kuwagamon is essentially Scizor on nightmare fuel as the giant digital beetle has more limbs and larger pincers than what Scizor is packing. If they were soldiers in the same insect army it's clear Scizor would be the assassins and Kuwagamon would be the brute force troopers.
1 Agumon (Charmandﷺer) 𓂃
It shouldn't come as a surprise that one of the most recognizable Digimon strikes a shocking resemblance to one of the most iconic Pokemon out there. Agumon is an orange-colored dinosaur that is a lot more adorable and cute than a creature like it has any right being. The key difference between it and its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fire-type Pokemon doppelganger named Charmander is that Agumon doesn't have a ball of flame on its tail, which might not be a tail considering it barely pro🍷trudes from the rest of i🌊ts body and looks more like a stump. Both Agumon and Charmander are fan-favorites for a reason, though, as it's hard not to love a puppy-like baby dragon.
