The stories in the Pokemon series aren’t always the main reason people enjo♔y the games, but there’s been a continuous expansion of the lore throughout each game as the series goes on. Characters often return between games with new story elements and hints towards other regions and characters, fueling Pokemon fans to make theories and speculation about every game in the series.
Unfortunately, very few of these enꦺd up being expanded upon, and an alarming number of plot points end up being gentle hints that leadඣ nowhere. For as long as the series has existed, there have been all kinds of plots and characters that have just faded from existence, and many could’ve had much more potential if they were given the chance to be explored.
10 Team Rock🅰et On The Sevii Islands ❀
Team Rocket’s immortal presence is something that’s touched on as an epilogue in certain games, but it’s never really been well-followed outside of perhaps Pokemon Gold & Silver as you find the scraps of the agency in Kanto. Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen almost went further, with a post-game story showing Team Rocket trying to rebuild on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the new Sevii Islands.
Unfortunately, nothing 🍷particularly comes of this as you beat them quickly with very few boss trainers to deal with. They’re mostly just free experience points as you max out your team from the Elite 4, and otherwise their presence in later games like Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon are just a magical reappearance.
9 ✅ ꦫ The Future Of The Frontier Brains
Very few of the Froജntier Brains have ever returne𒀰d in later games, but we know from Pokemon Sun & Moon that it’s completely possible. Enough time has passed that Hoenn’s leader of the Battle Tower, Anabel, is actually working with Looker as part of the International Police’s attempt to solve the Ultra Beast problem.
That said, we haven’t ever seen a return of other Frontier Brains, something especially sad given that we haven’t seen a return to the Battle Frontier either. With the possible Sinnoh remakes we could likely see some newer Brains, but it’s just as in🍰teresting toꦬ see the future of these talented trainers.
8 ও The Viridian City Gym Leader 🍸
After failing as Champion in Pokemon Red & Blue, most trainers know the fate of the original rival Blue as he takes over the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Viridian City Gym. This is a great space for him and it’s clear he’🅷s grown, but we’ve also seen an even more recent version of Blue in Alola at the region’s Battle Tower after visibly aging many years.
This might be a brief vacation, but it’s still somewhat of a mystery 🤡if he’s eternally a Gym Leader or moving to travel the world with Red for new challenges. These characters are incredibly nostalgic for players, and if there’s more to this character than this job, it would be lovely to see more of how he’s grown.
7 Looker’s Origi👍ns
Despite being a popular 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:recurring series character, Looker has been somewhat dropped from being an interesting story element himself. He mostly exists to push the player along varಞious post-game stories and the Team Galactic missions in Sinnoh, and we don’t discover🅰 much about him besides being a detective.
We came quite close to learning more about him with his appearance in Pokemon X & Y, where he’s given a bit more o🐲f a serious personality and it greatly implies that his Croagunk passed away at some point in the past. Unfortunatel🍬y, none of this is properly confirmed and any background elements about this seemingly important character are severely lacking.
6 Cilan, Cress, &𝔍 Chili’s Training
There’s actually a surprising lack of unresolved or undetailed plots in the Unova games, much because having direct sequels of Pokemon Black 2 & White 2 lead to many unique advancements of certain characters. Most of these get wrapped up quite well, such as Alder stepping down from his championshi𒆙p, but t💜he first game’s gym leader trio is left weirdly vague in their lack of appearance.
Theirꦦ memory cutscene shows them choosing to step away from their careers to train further, as they’re left out from the final confrontation with Team Plasma at the end of the first game. However, it’s unclear if they’re really that bad as trainers, and why they’re not included, and it’s not even explained what they’re training for besides being better at the jobs they already hold.
5 ꧟ Wallace’s Ancestors ꦛ
Wallace has never been a major character of the Hoenn games, but he’s significant enough as the final Gym Leader and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:eventual Hoenn Champion that there’s always been a curiosity about his identity. He knows much about the ancients Groudon and Kyogre in the story, even guiding you to the ancient cave of Sootopo♑lis, but otherwise is one of the less vocal champions of the series.
We do technically get an answer to his roots, and it’s in the form of him saying his family dates back to the ancients of Sootopolis City during Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire’s Delta Episode, but besides an additional post-game fight nothing comes from this whatsoever. They touch on Wallace’s roots, but don’t dig in whatsoever as to why he’s so important and skille⛎d as a trainer.
4 Jasmine In Sღinnoh
Speaking of recurring characters, there’s a couple appearances by some other classic Gym Leaders and Elite 4 members that ended up with zero explanation whatsoever. The earliest example of these is Jasmine, the original Steel-type Gym Leader from Johto who is randomly sitting on the beach Sunyshore City to give you the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:final HM Waterfall.
Otherwise, there’s nothing else she ends up doing in this game, or Pokemon Platinum. Is it just a thing that Gym Leaders go on vacation? Is the Olivine Lighthouse and its Ampharos in good health while she’s unable to take care of it? 𒐪We’ll probably never know.
3 Grims♓ley In Alola 𒐪
Jasmine is hardly the only past type expert to inexplicably return in a later game. Grimsley shows up in Pokemon Sun & Moon to give you your Sharpedo to ride on the water wi💛th, but otherwis꧂e doesn’t particularly explain why he’s stepped away from his time.
He’s confirmed to have fully left his position, but since we’ve never returned to Unova we have no idea who’s there now, whether it’s a new character or one who was already training to improve like Cress, Chili, or Cilan. Just because we aren’t in that region doesn’t mean we’re not invested in what’s going on ac♓ross the Pokemon world.
2 ꩲ 𝓰 Lorekeeper Zinnia
Perhaps the most popular one-off character of the series is Zinnia, a spunky Dragon-type expert who helps you through 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Delta Episode of Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. Her battle theme is un꧟like anyone else in Pokemon history and she’s a much more rustic Dragon-🐬type expert than most others in the series, making her full origins and future something many fans want to know.
Unfortunately, all we ever got at the end of the Delta Episode was her saying she’s leavinꦰg while dropping off a Mega Stone for Salamence as a gift to you for your help with Rayquaza and Deoxys. She’s said by her grandmother to be finding a new path, but for such a neat character it would be amazing to see what that path actually turns out to be. She does appear quite heavily in the Pokemon Manga, but the games lack any serious follow-꧂up to this fascinating trainer.
1 Rival Silv൩er 🌊
Your recurring rival from Pokemon Gold & Silver is easily one of the leaꦰst supported storylines of the entire series. It’s heavily implied that he’s the son of Giovanni, a𒈔nd that he’s rebelling against Team Rocket as a result, but the times we’ve gotten any direct confirmation of this connection are scattered at best.
The closest we ever got was a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:temporary online event as part of Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver, but this cutscene is now unavailable since thཧe event ended long ago. 💞It’s a fascinating relationship and origin for a rival that greatly breaks the mold of the friendly rivals from recent games, and would be another former character who deserves a proper exploration.
