On the surface, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon is one of the most accessible RPG franchises to get a handle on. As far as the battle system goes, it’s easy to grasp that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:poor old Fire-types won’t appreciate taking 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a powerful Water attack to the craꦯnium. The type chart gets a lot more obscure than that, but the starter trios and the interactions between their typings help keep things simple and logical for new🌺comers.

Battles in general can become surprisingly deep, especially if you’re interested in competit💟ive play. There’s a lot to consider here, from EVs and IVs to held items and egg moves. If you’re an experienced Pokémon breeder, you’ll probably recognize a lot of these moves, our picks for some of the most essential egg moves ever (and the Pokémon that arguably makes/made the best use of it).

10 Volt Tac💝kle (Pik💝achu)

With Pikachu being the poster child of the series, it’s no surprise that the adorable 🗹little rodent always 🧸gets special treatment in the franchise. A silly new hat for every occasion in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon GO, a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gigantamax form, you name it.

This extends to a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:very powerful signature🅰 move, Volt Tackle (a formidable Electric-type recoil attack), plus the Light Ball, a held item that doubles the offenses of Pikachu. To breed this exclusive move onto a Pikachu (as of Pokémon Emerald), the player need only have one of the breeding pair hold a Light Ball༒.

9 🌌 Dragon Dance (Tyranitar)

Since its introduction back in Generation II, Tyranitar has been regarded as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of the most fo💝rmidable Rock-types🌜 around. It boasts excellent all-around stats, making it a huge physical thre🅰at with nice bulk and the option to take the surprising special attacking route too. The Sand Stream Ability is the icing on the cake.

There are really only two things that let Tyranitar down: its double weakness to Fighting moves and its mediocre Speed. This is why it was often seen rocking the fantastic Egg Move Dragon Dance, which helped to patch up its Speed while making it even more powerful in the process. Conveniently, Dragon Dance is a TR in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Sword & Shield, so that can ✤save some breeding time. Very powerful in a lot of Pokémon’s hands/claws/fins, but we’ve chosen Tyranitar as our Dragon Dance user.

8 Icicle Crash (Weavile) ♌

On the subject of Dark-type physical attackers, the speedster Weavile is our next case study. This Dark/Ice Pokémon doesn’t hav🦩e the raw power of Tyranitar, but it’s much, much faster (base 125 💝Speed versus base 61).

The Sneasel line also has🉐 an unfortunate 4x weakness to Fighting moves, but it has another shortcoming too: an historic lack of powerful STAB moves. The addition of Icicle Crash as an Egg Move was a huge boon for it, as was the Isle of Armor’s new Triple Axel, while the Knock Off buff and Throat 🧸Chop helped with its Dark STAB.

7 🔴 Sucker Punch (Bisharp)

Yet another Dark-type makes an appearance on our list. This time, welcome our good buddy Bisharp, a Pokémon that constantly leaves 🎃its foes utterly terrified to move by keeping them in a checkmate position (appropriately enough).

The key to Bisharp’s success? Sucker Punch. With its distinctly average Speed and frailty, this Dark/Steel Pokémon would be easily out-sped and taken down without this very powerful priority attack. Why it doesn’t learn this naturally, we’ll never know♛, but no competitive Bisharp set is complete without it. Don’t be too predictable with it, though, because Sucker Punch fai𒉰ls if the opponent isn’t directly attacking that turn.

6 Double-Edge (Staraptor) 𝓡

When you first encountered a Starly at the beginning of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, you might well have dismissed it completely. Another utterly average early game Normal/Flying Pokémon, right? Oh, heck no, friend. Suddenly, out of nowhere, it evolves i𓆉nto Staraptor and boastsꦰ more destructive power than Godzilla on a day-trip to a busy urban population center.

Staraptor has base 100 Speed and base 120 Attack. It also has access to tremendously strong recoil STAB moves and the Hidden Ability Reckless to boost their strength further. It learns Brave Bird by itself, but play🎐ers will want to breed Double-Edge onto it to go alongside that. Staraptor won’t last long with all the damage it’ll do to itself, but it’ll certainly claim a few souls on its way out.

5 Self-De꧅struct (Snorlax)

While some of these Pokémon and/or moves aren’t readily accessible in Sword & Shield, others are far more convenient to get youꦇr hands on. With Self-Destruct being TM 20 in the new games, it’s far easily to teach to Snorlax.

Previously, the player had to acquire it as an Egg Move from a Pokémon that had learned it in a prior generation, and only a hatched Munchlax ღ(not Snorlax) would have it. It was still a super valuable move to have on this formidable Normal-type, some of the most devastating Normal STAB around.

4 🐽 High Jump Kick (Cinderace)

If you enjoy serious battles online, you’ll have noticed that Cinderace, with its freshly-released Hidden Ability Libero, is a🍸bsolutely everywhere just now. The metagame is drowning in fiery bunnies and we just don’t know how to feel about it.

One thing we do know is that Libero is one of the best Abilities in the series (it’s the same as Greninja’s infamous Protean), and almost all of these things will have High Jump Kick bred onto them to take advantage of it. If you’re breeding a competitive Cindera꧅ce, Libero and this mighty Fighting move are both must-haves.

3 🧸 Muddy Wat🐽er (Kingdra)

The Isle of Armor expansion introduced a lot of intriguing Pokémon to the mix, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:some brand new (or brand-new forms atꩲ least) and many others returning from previous generations. Two of the key cl꧙assic Pokémon to make a comeback were Politoed and Kingdra, giving the popular rain archetype a new lease of life in Galar.

Rain teams revolve around the simple concept of hitting hard and fast and are a popular sight in doubles matches in particular. Kingdra’s Swift Swim Ability allows it to do just that, while Muddy Water is a common pick for it (hitting both opponents for rain-boosted damage while leaving yo🌠ur ally unscathed, unlike Surf). This move is also a TR this generation, though it previously served as a super popular Egg Move for the Horsea line.

2 Heat Wave (Chandelure) 🍒

Speaking of doubles matches, spread moves are common picks for obvious reasons, though there’s one key thing to remember:🐷 they deal reduced damage when hitting two opponents at once. Nonetheless, they’re incredibly useful.

Another popular spread move that was bred onto a lot of Pokémon (for doubles or otherwise) is Heat Wave. Last generation, Chandelure could only learn it as an Egg Move from a Pokémon that had acquired it in a previous generation, though that isn’t an issue now as it’s🐲 a TR.

1 🔯 Hydro Pump (Salamence) ও

You guessed it: Hydro Pump is indeed another TR in Sword & Shield, available from the Watt Traders. In this case, though, Salamence isn’t available in the game as of yet, meaning that it’s going to🍸 continue to be an Egg Move where this ferocious Dragon-type is concerned (though perhaps it’ll be added with the Crown Tundra expansion).

Hydro Pump is a powerhouse of a move that serves a lot of Pokémon well, but we’ve chosen Salamence in🍬 particular because it’s a unique case. Able to run physical, special and mixed sets well (let’s not forget its super strong Mega Evolution either, if Megas still count for anything), Salamence runs Hydro Pump quite often, though it can be situational.
