A group of modders have created a mod that randomises the whole of Pokemon Emerald's map. Your knowledge of Hoenn won't save you here.
, where it quickly became one of the most up-voted posts over the past week. The mod was created by PointCrow, XLuma, Turtleisaac, and🅰 AtSign.
As you can probably guess, the map randomiser makes it so that every time you move through a new area, you'll find yourself in a random location. PointCrow said that the mod makes it so "if you step into a Pokemon Center, for example, you'll exit out of a random house, face off against an elite 4 member, or even run into Ho-oh".
PointCrow notes that the mod is currently only available for Pokemon Emerald, but that the team is working on a Universal Map Randomiser that will work for every Pokemon. They also said that a randꦡomiser is nearly finished for Pokemon Platinum. and it shows off just how ♋far the randomiser goes. In the video, PointCrow uses the Pokemon Centre in Oldale Town and ends up in Navel Rock.
When asked if the game is beatable with the use of the randomiser, PointCrow said, "Yes! We’ve tried our best to tweak the logic so that you’re able to beat all 8 gyms and elite 4/champ in order. Ther💫e might be some bugs here and there, but we’re going to be constantly updating it! The first gym isn’t behind things that require surf, strength etc. or Rock Smash HM isn’t behind a rock".
PointCrow noted some of the other changes that have been made to the game to make sure that it's beatable. For example, Teleport and Fly are available to use everywhere in the game. There are some areas that aren't randomised too, such as the Museum, Lilycove Harbor, Aqua Cave, and Terra Cave.
