Depending on their significance, NPCs can be completely forgettable or leave an impression on players during their playthroughs. The Sinnoh games; Pokemon Diamond, Pearl & Platinum, enriched their plot when introducing the "Stat Trainers", a group of five characters that can act as co♓mpanions to the player on their journey.
Starting in Diamond & Pearl, these trainers appear in different locations throughout the Sinnoh Region, calling upon the player to help them complete a certain task in exchange for keeping their Pokemon fully healed. If the player agrees to travel♎ with them, the Stat Trainers will use one Pokemon to assist them in Multi Battles against both Wild Pokemon and other Trainers.
Once their tasks have been completed, they part ways with the player and become available to team up with at the Battle Tower for Multi Battles inꩲ the post-game. In these battles, each of the Trainers tends to specialize in a certain stat rather than a type like the Gym Leaders.
Somehow, all of them have also acquired at least one Legendary Pokemon. In Pokemon Platinum, the Stat Trainers also became available to fight against in the Battleground, where they challenge the player with a team of five Pokemon. The Stat Trainers also reappear in Johto's Battle Tower in Heartgold & Soulsilver, where they are only available as partners.
Several of the Stat Trainers have made appearances across multipl♌e Pokemon media, including the anime, Pokemon Generations, and Pokemon Masters EX.
5 🍸 Cheryl (HP) & Chan🎐sey
The first of the Stat Trainers to be encountered, Cheryl introduces herself at the entrance of Eterna Forest. She claims she is afraid of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Team Galactic's activities and asks to tag along with the player to the exit. Though Team Galactic is nowhere to be found in the forest, Cheryl helps the player ꦉin battles with 🍸her Chansey which knows Egg Bomb, Refresh, and Softboiled.
Cheryl is unique among the Stat Tr🧸ainers for being the only one to not be found in a cave of some sort, as well as being the only one that must accompany the player during their playthrough of Diamond & Pearl. When exiting the forest in Platinum, Cheryl gives the player a Soothe Bell, which is useful for evolving Pokemon such as Riolu, Golbat, and Pichu.
At the Battleground, it is revealed that Cheryl's Chansey has evolved into Blissey, knowing the moves Counter, Softboiled, Psychic, and Toxic.
In battles against her, she also uses Drifblim, Wobbuffet, Hariyama, and Wailord, all Pokemon that have high base HP. In the Battle Tower, she is also shown to use Legendary Pokemon such as Latias, Latios, Regirock, Regice, and Cresselia. While Cheryl is a kind-hearted character, her viability as a Multi Battle partner is poor due to the fact that she will mostly prioritize healing her own Pokemon.
In the Pokemon anime, Cheryl is voiced by Sarah Natochenny, Ash's current voice actor; in Pokemon Masters, she is voiced by Laura Post, known for portraying Kasumi Yoshizawa in . Cheryl and her Chansey are featured in Pokemon Generations Episode 10: The Old Chateau, where she is voiced by anime dubbing legend Stephanie Sheh.
4 ꧋ Mira (Sp. Attack) & Kadabra
Mira is typically the second Stat Trainer that the player encounters, found in the hidden Wayward Cave on Route 206. The cave, located underneath the Cycling Road t๊hat connects Eterna and Oreburgh cities, is completely dark and optional for the player to traverse. Without the TM70 Flash, which can be picked up earlier in the game at Oreburgh Gate, Mira can 🌞be very difficult to find.
Having lost her way, she waits at the northeastern corner of the cave and asks the player to help guide her back to the entrance. In exchange, she uses her Kadabra to battle alongside the player, which knows Shock Wave, Kinesis, Confusion, and Flash. If she is talked to while travelling through the cave, she'll mention her favourite moves are Growl and Minimize.
Later at the Battleground, her Kadabra has evolved into Alakazam, which now knows Focus Blast, Calm Mind, Psychic, and Hyper Beam. She also uses Porygon-Z, Gengar, Magnezone, and Togekiss, all Pokemon that have 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:high base Special Attack.
Mira shares some similarities with Gym Leader Candice, who tends to speak in the third person (referring to herself by na🎃me) and also only use Pokemon from the Platinum Pokedex in rematches. At the Battle Tower,✅ Mira will also use Legendary Pokemon such as Zapdos, Moltres, Latias, Latios, and Heatran.
Mira is one of the better Multi Battle partners in the Battle Tower due to her balance of support moves and hard-hitting Special Attack moves. She is voiced by Rena Strober in the Pokemon anime, who also voiced Azura in : Fates and performed the game's anthem Lost In Thoughts All Alone.
3 Riley (Attack) & Lucario 👍 🎐
Appearing at Iron Island, Riley is the last of the Stat Trainers that can be encountered before th♊e Pokemon League. He can be teamed up with either before or after defeating the sixth Gym Leader, Byron, at Canalave Gym. Riley stands by the entrance of the cave, offering to help the player into the deep parts of the old mine that once existed on the island.
In Platinum, he will give the player the HM for Strength, meaning that he must be talked to at least once before completing the rest of the game. He uses his signature Pokemon, Lucario, to battle the Trainers in the cave, as well as two Galactic Grunts which are found to be disrupting the Pokemon in the area. Here, Riley's Lucario knows the moves Metal Claw, Bone Rush, Force Palm, and Quick Attack.
While travelling through Iron Island, Riley will mention that he was once considered to be the Gym Leader of Oreburgh Gym, but offered up the position to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Byron's son Roark.
After defeating the Grunts, Riley will give the player an Egg containing a Riolu, which will hatch after walking 6,400 steps. Riley later appears at the Battleground, once again u🗹sing his Lucario which has learned Close Combat, ExtremeSpeed, and Blaze Kick. He will also use Absol, Ursaring, Metagross, and Salamence against the player, al൩l Pokemon which have high base Attack.
At the Battle Tower, Riley uses the Legendary Pokemon Regigigas in Diamond & Pearl, and Entei in Platinum, Heartgold, and Soulsilver. Riley is one of the most mysterious Trainers in the games, and the only confirmed human to be able to harness the power of aura, which is most often associated with Lucario. H🤪e is a decent Multi Battle partner due to having the most Pokemon than any other Stat Trainer, though many of these Pokemon are quiteꦏ vulnerable to special moves.
He is voiced by Marc Diraison in the Pokemon anime, who also voices Subway Boss Ingo in the show's Unova arc.
2 Buck (Def. & Sp. Def.) & Cl🌃aydol
The younger brother of Elite Four Flint, Buck can only be met once the player has beat the game. After arriving at the Fight Area by ferry from Snowpoint City, Buck will introduce himself after the player speaks to their rival in Diamond & Pearl, or once Volkner and Flint have been defeated in a Multi Battle in Platinum. He then invites the player to train with him at Stark Mountain, though the subquest slightly changes between Diamon💝d & P🌺earl and Platinum.
In Diamond & Pearl, he wants to take the Magma Stone from the inner cavern of the mountain to prove his strength; in Platinum, he joins the player in confronting Team Galactic's commander Charon, who wants to take the stone and awaken Heatran. In the 🙈portion of the quest where Buck teams up with the player, he uses his Claydol which knows Psychic, Light Screen, Reflect, and AncientPower.
After foiling Team Galactic for the last time, Buck will take the 💎stone from Looker and put it back in the cavern. Once the quest is finished, Buck will unlock the Battleground for the player, and can occasionally be battled there himself. His g💧randfather owns the cafe and makes food for all the battling trainers.
In Buck's fights against the player, his Claydol will have learned Earth Power and Calm Mind, replacing Light Screen and Reflect. He will also use Shuckle, Umbreon, Torkoal, and Dusknoir, all Pokemon with either high Defense or Special Defense. In the Battle Tower, Buck is shown to own all three members of the Regi trio, as well as the Legendary Pokemon Articuno, Suicune, and Cresselia.
Buck is an average Multi Battle partner, as his Battle Tower Pokemon know far more setup moves than direct attacks. In the anime, Buck is voiced by Bryan Tyler, who has provided voices for several Yu-Gi-Oh characters. Bryce Papenbrook provides Buck's voice in Pokemon Generations Episode 12: The Magma Stone. Papenbrook is also the current voice of Silver the Hedgehog in the franchise.
1 Marley (Speed) &🌃💖; Arcanine
Like Buck, Marley can only be encountered once the player has entered the Hall of Fame and obtained the National Pokedex. Marley waits for the player on the east side of Victory Road, which was previously blocked by a random NPC. In few words, Marley expresses that she is interested in the Pokemon Shaymin, and asks for the player's help in reaching the stone tablet that lies on Route 224.
Here, she sends out her Arcanine which knows the moves Fire Fang, ExtremeSpeed, Helping Hand, and Agility. Marley is rather self-aware, not speaking much𒁏 in fear she might hurt people with her words. This is later shown at the Battleground, where she says she dislikes the player and threatens to not come back if they decline her invitation to battle.
In rematches, her Arcanine has learned the moves Thunder Fang, Crunch, and Flare Blitz. She additionally uses Ninjask, Electrode, Crobat, and Weavile, all Pokemon with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:very high Speed stats.
Out of all the Stat Trainers, Marley has the least amount of Legendary Pokemon, only using Raikou in Platinum, Heartgold and Soulsilver. Despite this, Marley is one of the best Stat Trainers to partner up with for Multi Battles at the Battle Tower due to her Pokemon's overwhelming speed almost always allowing them to strike first.
Marley and Cheryl are thꦫe only Stat Trainers to appear so far in Pokemon Masters, where she forms a sync pair with Arcanine. She is voiced in the game by Dorothy Elias-Fahn, who also voices Mercedes in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Marley also appears in the Pokemon anime, where she is voiced by Dani Marcus. Marcus has also sung the ending themes for several Pokemon movies.
