That stare has actually made many fans feel like Marshtomp is kind of creepy. A quick Google search for Marshtomp shows countless works of fan art that depict this thing as a terrifying po🍎ssessed monster. Why are its eyes so soulless, anywa🦩y? It's a strange choice that really doesn't serve Marshtomp very well. The orange detailing on its cheeks is also too invasive on its mouth. Mudkip and Swampert have this too, but it doesn't seem to be squishing their faces as much. Marshtomp is just all around an unfortunate design.
7 Frogadier
While Marshtomp is terrible and kind of creepy, the remaining Pokémon on this list typically aren't, they're just not as good as the ones higher up. 5 Brionne
Primarina was a controversial choice when it was revealed in Generation VII. While Popplio and Primarina were the subjects of much debate, Brionne was quietly off to the side being adorable.

Plus, it is always sh🐟own being loveable and affectionate, and who doesn't like that?
4 Drizzile
Speaking of controversial design choices — the Galar starters have been the subject of much recent debate. Many people hate the final forms ❀and their anthropomorphic designs. Others think the middle evolutions are bad all around. But, Drizzile isn't as bad as the rest of the starter families and their members.
Drizzile looks like it took Sobble's perpetual sadness and entered an emo phase. The water balloon weapons are a nice choice and a good precursor to . The only thing that should chang♒e about Drizzile is the green hands. Another color might have been better. Its hands look like oven mitts.
3 Prinplup
There are few Pokémon with brows more "on fleek" than Prinplup, ꦺas they say. Those brows are so styled that they're coming off the top of its head — it's fantastic. However, Prinplup has other good features, too.
For one, it definitely feels like a grown-up version of the tiny, adorable Pi🐎plup. The design adds a lot of detail and development from the base stage, but not a weird amount that makes it feel stuck between Piplup and Empoleon. The white circles seem like the buttons of a Napoleonic jacket, which fits with its later evolution's design motifs.
2 Wartortle
Ah, the original itself. Wartortle is the first ꧋Water-stage middle evolution to be intr🐻oduced in the series, evolving from Squirtle and into Blastoise. It is a fantastic design that is clearly between its evolutionary relatives while not being weirdly-stuck in the middle.
Wartortle is🧸 a great design. The ears, slightly-different coloring, and curly tail are all very nice. It also has an attitude of determination and conviction, which is really cool. Its shade of blue is arguably the best of the three stages of its line, too.
1 Crocanaw
A little bit punk rock, a little bit biker, Crocanaw is a great Pokémon. Despite its Fred Flinstone-like stomach design, Crocanaw really brings a little edge to the Pokémon franchise. There have always been strong or fierce Pokémon, but Crocanaw and its evolution, Feraligatr, were some of the first to really feel edgy and intim🐠idating.
The pink mohawk, the nice shade of blue, and the sharp teeth all lend themselves to an aesthetically-great design imbued with a ton of personality.💜 Crocanaw really to🅠ok Johto by storm and planted its flag as a great starter evolution.
