Fire-Types are one of the cornerstones of Pokémon typing, stemming from the original Pokémon Red & Blue and firmly residing as a starter Pokémon type for 𒊎over 20 years. The Fire type teaches new players the basics of type-advantage while being one of the most popular choices for starter Pokémon in nearly every game.
But, with such an enormous amount of Pokémon existing today, there's bound to be some designs that are a bit less creative than others, or just flat-out lazy. We'll be looking at the most controversial and spicy Fire Pocket Monsters from Pokémon Black & White to Sword and Shield.
10 Coalossal
A new addition to the Pokémon cast, Coalossal had so much potential to be more than it is. A Pokémon based around coal is a first for the series, with Carkol giving hope🌊 for what should have been a great Pokémon. But, Coalossal ends up looking too similar to other rock-type Pokémon like Golem or Gigalith, and it brings a sense of Deja Vu that turns it into another boring walking rock monster.🦩 What if Coalossal had a bundle of coal in its hands that it throws into its head to power attacks, or had unique coal-powered punches? It's unfortunate to see the lost potential, but it's far from the worst.
9 Heatmor
As the "Anteater Pokémon", it serves its duty well. But design-wise, it falls a bit short. Introduced in Generation V, it lands itself in the Pokédex right next to Durant, and it feels as if Heatmor was only created to coincide with it. It's a neat duo, seeing an anteater and an ant be bꦺitter rivals, but neither Pokémon feels complete with its design. Heatmor's simple coloring 🍨and body, especially around its head, leaves a lot to be desired.
8 Centi♊skorch
Centiskorch feels like the per𒈔fect amalgamation of a fire-bug type. Although it just looks like a bug, that is, indeed, on fire. This Pokémon even has🅠 its own Gigantamax Form, which is certainly a bit better than the original.
The issue here again lies in unharnessed potential, as Centiskorch could have been so much more than it is with a more unique design to make it stand out from its other bug-type buddies. At this point in the series, catching Centiskorch feels as if you've alreadyꩲ done it in other games.
7 Litleo
At first glance, there's nothing inherently wrong with Litleo's design. But, as you continue to see them during your playthrough of Pokémon X and Y, you start to🧜 notice just how bland their design is. It's a simple lion cub Pokémon, and nothing else. Like Coalossal, there is just too much wasted potential here to let it slide, especially when Pyroar isn't much better. There's plenty of other quadrupedal lion💫-Esque Pokémon to look to for inspiration, but Litleo's limited color palette and uninspired design take it from Lion King to Lion Cub.
6 Volcanion
As a Mythical Pokémon, Vo🦩lcanion . Its body shape is quite literally a🅘ll over the place, and the ring on its back looks more like a handle than anything.
A volcanic Pokémon that uses water to create boiling steam is a great idea, if only it wasn't stuck on a Pokémon that looks like it came s🧔traight out of . It's difficult to decipher what each section of Volcanion's body does, and you'ওll spend more time questioning it than using it.
5 Talonflame 🐽 ꦜ
While Talonflame 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:💯absolutely dominated the competitive scene in Pokémon X and Y, that doesn't excuse it from being a lazy design. You could argue that most of the basic bird Pokémon you catch at the beginning of each game share similar boring qualities, and Talonflame falls right into it. At least in Pokémon Sword &am♛p; Shield, we have Corviknight to break the cycl꧃e, although not as destructive as this monster. Looking also at Fletchinder, the previous evolution, all Talonflame gained was some spots, different coloring, and a slightly changed tail. If this Pokémon looked as good as it was on the tier list, we'd be in for a treat.
4 🐬 Blacephalon 𝓡
Ultra Beasts are...Pokémon? They're certainly strange, and thei🍨r designs are even🌟 weirder. If you asked anyone what they think Blacephalon's typing is, they'd probably say something along the lines of, "Psychic!" or, "Fairy!".
Blacephalon is Fire-Ghost, and it has nothing to show for it. It's not a terrible design on its own, but in regards to the Fire-type, it becomes forgettable. Ultra Beasts had the potential to break free from the conventions of traditional Pokémon designs and become som𝔉ething fresh and interesting, but most of them were quickly brushed off.
3 Pignite
Possibly the most disliked starter in the series, the Tepig line gets a lot of flack, and for good reason. It has a very worn-out typing, being Fire-Fighting, and it's nothing more than an orange pig with a few designs on its body. If the term "lazy" were used to describe any Pokémon, it would be this evolution line. The other two168澳洲幸运5开奖网: starters from Gen V were great, and most other starters in th🍌e series feel like a good amount of time and care was put into them. These Pokémon feel rushed and incomplete.
2 Turtonator ♍
Turtonator suffers from Volcanion syndrome, in which the various weirdly placed parts of its body are confusing and not appealing t👍o look at. Turtonaꩵtor is the "Blast Turtle Pokémon", and it resides primarily in volcanic areas. Game Freak's design on volcanic Pokémon is questionable at best, and this thing just ends up looking like a failed children's art project. Volcanoes are some of the coolest natural formations on the planet but have their name squandered by these odd-looking creatures.
1 Emboar
This evolution line is so bad that it's on this list twice. Pokémon Black and White had some great☂ new additions to the Pokédex, but Emboar is a huge step back in terms of quality. Fire-Fighting starters had already been done twice before Generation V, and it seems like Game Freak ran out of ideas after designing Oshawott and Snivy. It's unoriginal, uninteresting, and it's been do🌟ne before. Thankfully, Sword & Shield's starters were great, and we hopefully won't see a repeat of this disappointment.
