Let’s be honest, many of the Pokémon from Gen I (Red, Blue, and Yello⛄w) are not the best of combatants when compared to Pokémon from later generations. Game Freak has tried to help these originals keep up by giving many Gen I Pokémon access to stronger attack moves in later games.
Sadly, even with these better attacks a lot of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gen I Pokémon just can’t compete against the newer ones; however, there are still a handful of those original Pokémon that are still worth training in Gen VIII (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sword and Shield). This ဣlist will focus on the base game without the Isle of Armor DLC.
10 Vulpix/Ninetale𝔍s
Vulpix is a cute fox with up to six tails that evolves into Ninetales with the use of a Fire Stone. Vulpix and Ninetales are both Fire-type Pokémon. Vulpix’s stats are prohibitively low, but Ninetales’ stats are good enough to justify the time spent grinding to get it high enough in level to learn its best moves. The highlights of its move-set feature strong Fire-type moves like Fire Blast, Inferno, Flamethrower, and Will-O-Wisp. In Sword, Vulpix can be found on Route 3 (among other places); in Shieldඣ it can be found at Dusty Bowl and Hammerlocke Hills.
9 Pikachu/Raichu 🍬
Pikachu is almost certainly the most famous Pokémon – it is the “face” of the franchise. There are people out there who have never played a video game in their life…but they know about Pikachu. Raichu is the final evolutionary stage of the Pikachu family. This electric mouse is one of the more powerful Electric-types available to players in Pokémon: Sword and Shield. Raichu has excellent Speed, Attack, 𝓰and Special Attack ratings. It can also learn most of the really powerful Electric type moves, as well as some strong Normal type moves – like Slam and Quic▨k Attack. In both games, Pikachu can be encountered on Route 4.
8 Ditto
Ditto is an odd ♛Pokémon. It only learns one move – Transform. This move allows Ditto to become an exact copy of an𒈔 opposing Pokémon for that battle; complete with the opponent’s move-set. This isn’t as useful as it sounds since most Pokémon are strong against moves of the same type as themselves.
Ditto is worth catching/training for really only one reason; and for many (probably most) players this reason is irrelevant. This Pokémon is very useful for players that enjoy 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:breeding Pokémon in an effort to get a specimen with perfect stats or a shiny version. Ditto can be༺ found at the Lake of Outrage in both games.
7 ♏ ✃ Growlithe/Arcanine
The Arcanine might be one of the most underrated Pokémon in the franchise. These fire dogs with tiger markings have some of the best overall stats in Gen I; an Arcanine’s Attack, Special Attack, Speed, and maximum hit points are all fairly respectable. They also have access to a wide variety of great attacks to go along with good stats. Among Arcanine’s best attacks are; Extreme Speed, Crunch, Flare Blitz, Flamethrower, and Take Down. Arcanine can be caught at the Lake of Outrage in Shield. Those playing Sword nee𝄹d to find a Growlithe; which can be found on Route 3 (among other places).
6 Gastly/Haunter/Gengar 🐭
Players of the Gen I Pokémon games didn’t have many choices when it came to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ghost-type Pokémon. In fact, they only had one choice - the Gengar family of Pokémon. Pokémon: Sword and Shield are both full of Ghost-types, and even with a plethora of choices, Gengar is still worth training. For starters, its Speed and Special Attack ratings are on par with Legendary Pokémon. Gengar also gets the potent move-combo of Hypnosis and Dream Eater. This combo allows it to hurt enemies while healing itself. In Sword and Shield, a Haunter can be encountered on Route 8 and Gia♛nt’s Seat.
5 ꧟ M💜achop/Machoke/Machamp
After eight generations of Pokémon games, it is safe to say that Machamp is still one of the best 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fighting-types in the series. It may not be very fast or have the best defensive ratings but Machamp hits hard and has enough hit points to last against powerful opponents. The only real problem most players have with this family of Pokémon is the need to trade a Machoke to evolve it into a Machamp. Dynamic Punch, Cross Chop, and Double-Edge are its strongest attacks – and all have a power score of 100 or higher. In Sword and Shield, a Machoke can be encountered a🐻t Giant’s Seat, Axew’s Eye, Stony Wilderness, and Hammerlocke Hills.
4 Magika🃏rp/Gyarados
This entry is more for Gyarados than Magikarp; which is next to useless. Truthfully, the only positive aspect of Magikarp is that it will eventually evolve into Gyarados. It’s fortunate then that a Gyarados can be encountered in the wild in Sword and Shield. This saves players about f💯our or five hours of gr꧟inding to get Magikarp to level 20.
Gyarados has incredible stats and access to some of the best attacks in the game. Hydro Pump, Thrash, Hurricane, and Hyper Beam are its best attacks. A Gyarados can be encountered at the Lake of Outrage (among other places) in Shield, and in Sword, it can be found🐼 around Route 2 and Axew’s Eye (among other places).
3 🦩 Munchlax/Snorlax
Snorlax appears benign, but it is an absolute beast in battle. Its Speed rating is terrible; however, it has fantastic Attack and Special Defense ratings. Snorlax’s best stat though is its sky-high hit point total. It has so many hit points that the fact that it can fully heal itself makes it downright unfair in battle when used smartly. Another great thing about Snorlax is its list of available moves. Snorlax has a huge list of possible moves – picking only a four is difficult. Munchlax can be encountered at Motostoke Riverbank in both Sword and Shield.
2 Lapras
Most players who didn’t pick Squirtle in Pokémon: Red, Blue, and/or Yellow found themselves using Lapras as their go-to Water-type Pokémon. It has a ton of hit points and a great Special Defense rating; its other stats are also pretty good. Lapras was many players choice for their “Surfing” Pokémon in many of the Pokémon games. Why? Because a high-level Lapras can hang with the Legendaries in battle. It helps that it can learn moves like Hydro Pump, Sheer Cold, Ice Beam, and Body Slam. Lapras can be found on Route 9 in both Sword and Shield.
1 𓂃 ♕ Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard
Players wanting a Bulbasaur or Squirtle need to get the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Isle of Armor expansion DLC – and even then they have to choose between the two. However, in the base game it is possible to get a Charmander. Charizard is what one would expect from a “starter” Pokémon; meaning it has great stats and access to some of the best attacks for its type. Its b🌃est attack moves are Fire Blast, Inferno, Flamethrower, and Dragon Breath. Charizard is also a good choice for a player’s “Flying” Pokémon. To get a Charmander the player needs to visit Leon’s Room after beating💮 the game; it’s in the Pokéball on the floor.
