Generation 3 implemented a few changes to the battle scene that would shake up the series forever, mainly by adding abilities and introducing double battles. Pokemon battling would be a who♒le new world with these two changes alone.
But that doesn't mean sheer base stat prowess doesn't still reign supreme. A Pokemon doesn't need a great ability to sweep through the league if it has a high enough stat in the right place. If you're looking to beef up your team for a playthrough of Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, or the Kanto remakes, here are the Gen 3 Pokemon with the highest base stat totals.
Updated January 14, 2022 by Ryan Bamsey: The third generation remains the favorite of so many Pokemon fans and the games are still played avidly today. We've taken another look at this list to make sure it has all the information you need when looking at Hoenn's strongest offerings.
10 🌠 Sceptile, Blaziken, Walrein, and Aggron
Starter Pokemon alwa🍬ys have great stats, and Gen 3 is no exception. Sceptile and Blaziken tie with one another, as well as with Aggron and Walrein, for a base stat total of 530. Of course, each of these Pokemon distributes its stats differently.
Sceptile is a quick special attacker (speed: 120 and special attack: 105). Blaziken is similar, though its special attack is five points higher. Walrein and Aggron, though, are both built for bulk. Walrein has an 🌊HP stat of 110 and 90 in both defense and special defense. Aggron has a nice attack stat at 110 but shines in defense, with an incredible stat of 180.
9 Swampert
Sceptile and Bl🌜aziken, both starters, are slightly edged out by their Water-type counterpart, Swampert. This Water/Ground-type has a base stat total of 535, just five points over the other two starter options🌠.
Swampert's stats favor HP and attack, at 100 and 110, respectively. Paired with a decent defense stat of 90 and its nice type combination, Swampert is a bulky defender with a great attack stat to match, making it a popular choice in the competitive scene.
8 Milotic
Slightly edging out Swampert for a higher ranking is fellow Water-type Milotic. After evolving from the pathetic (in terms of stats) aꦛnd intentionally ugly Feebas, Miloti𒐪c becomes a beautiful river꧒-dwelling powerhouse of special stats.
Milotic's special attack and special defense are both fantastic, sitting at 100 and 125, respectively. Its above-average speed stat of 81 is nice, too, as is its 95 HP stat. Milotic is a semi-bulky special attacker, and it can be very powerful in battle.
7 Regi Trio
Many Legendary trios have the same base stat total, and the Regis are no different. Although they aren't so much a trio as a quintet nowadays, there were only three of them 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:back in the Hoenn games. Each of 😼these goleꦇms has a base stat total of 580.
Regirock heavily favors physical defense, with an insane defense stat of 200, while Regice has an equally-impressive𝕴 200 in sp🎃ecial defense. Registeeܫl falls between them with 150 in each typeඣ of defense.
Interestingly, their new members fromꦬ Gen Eight, Regieleki and Regidrago, also have a base stat total of 580. However, Regieleki is now the fastest Pokemon in the series with a base spe✱ed of 200, while Regidrago has an impressive 200 in HP.
6 ꧃ Jirachi and Deoxys
Like most of168澳洲幸运5开奖网: the other Mythical Pokemon in the🌟 series, both Deoxys andꦐ Jirachi have base stat totals of 600. Jirachi is like Mew, Celebi, and others in having exactly 100 points in each stat, but Deoxys is a bit more complicated.
Deoxys has 150 in both attack stats and speed in its standard form while having 50 in every other stat. Its various forms have wildly-variant stats, though. Attack Form has 180 in physical and special attack while tying for the lowest defense and special defense with Caterpie and others at a mere 20. Its Defense Form has an impressive 160 in physical and special defense, and Speed Form has 180 in speed &md𓄧ash;a former record.
5 Mꦆetagross and🎃 Salamence
Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon all have exactly 600 as a base stat total — it's part of the requirement to be a pseudo. As a result, Gen III's pair of pseudos — Metagross and Salamence — have that base stat total as well.
Metagross favors attack and defense at 135 and 130, 𝕴respectively, with average speed (70) and decent numbers in the remaining stats. Salamence favors speed and attacks, at 100 and 135, respectively, while also having a nice special attack stat of 110.
4 👍 Latias and Latios 🦩
It's no surprise that the top sections of this list will be dominated by Legendary Pokemon. Up now are Latias and Latios, also known as the Eon Duo. These two Dragon/Psychic-types both rock a nice 600 base stat total.
Their stats are very similar, but they 🍌do have some slight differences. Latias puts 130 in special defense and 110 in special attack, while 🌄Latios has the opposite. Latias also has 80 attack and 90 defense, while Latios has the reverse.
3 Slaking
The granddaddy of huge stats is Slaking. This Normal-type is known for its massive attack stat, clocking in at 160. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Its HP stat of 150 and defense of 100 are also both noteworthy. Give it𝓡 that 100 base speed, and you have quite the monster on your hands. Its overall base stat total is 670, putting in the leagues of Legendaries and Mega Evolutions. Aside from Mythicals, Legendaries, and Megas, Slaking has the♚ highest base stat total of any Pokemon.
Slaking is, fortunately, limited by its ability. T🅘ruant makes it so Slaking can only attack every other turn. This is meant to balance the Pokemon out, but there are ways around it.
2 🍸 Groudon and Kyogre
Sitting on🦩 the same base stat total as Slaking of 670 is a tie between the two game mascots for Ruby & Sapphire, Groudon and Kyogre. Like many other pairs with tied stats, these two distribute them differently.
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kyogre dominates in special stats, with 150 in special attack and 140 in spec𝕴ial defense, while Groudon has 150 in physical attack and 140 in physic𒆙al defense. They have the exact same speed and HP, though.
1 Rayquaza
Rayquaza's role in the lore of the games is to quell the fighting between Groudon and Kyogre, so it makes sense that it has better stats. Clocking in at 680, Rayquaza ties with Mewtwo, Ho-oh, Lugia, Calyrex, and many other mascot Legendaries.
This Dragon/Flying-type specializes in attack, having 150 points in both physica♛l and special attack. Interestingly, ❀as Mega Rayquaza, this Legendary had the highest base stat total of any obtainable Pokemon (tying with Mega Mewtwo) until Eternamax Eternatus came along.
