In the first episode of the Pokémon anime, there was a mysterious golden bird flying through the sky, bringing a rainbow of color along with it. Plenty of rumors and speculation followed. Who was this mysterious bird? It wasn’t part of the original 151, yet it was in the first episode of the anime, which at the time only included Pokémon from the first generation.

This mysterious bird was later revealed to be the legendary bird Ho-Oh who could be caught in Pokémon Gold.

4 RUMOR: Shuckle

The simplest of the rumors, yet the weirdest is that the egg held by Chansey could turn into a Togepi if enough time elapsed. It was believed that if you had a Chansey in your party long enough, it would end up giving birth to a Togepi. This was based solely on the fac🥀t that Chancy holds an egg and Togepi looks like an egg. This, however, was only a rumor and the egg on Chansey’s chest was part of its original design and Togepi could only be attained through a separate egg entirely.

1 TRUE: Red

This one ties into the last entry. When it was revealed that you could return to Kanto, kids all around the playground spoke of fighting your character from the original game, Red. Of course, no one believed those kids as they were also the kids who told you to use strength on the truck in Red and Blue in order to obtain Mew. It turns out that they were right! When you climb Mt. Silver you find Red. He has Pikaꦛchu, all of the original starters, Snorlax and Espeon.
