The last of Fe🍷st's celebratory bonus rewards is Unova week. From now until next Friday, August 21, Pokémon from the 5th generation are spawning more frequently. This makes it a great time to stock up on candies for elusive Gen V Pokémon like Shelmet, Karrablast, and Dwebble. The event also marks the debut of the shiny form of Genesect, the Mythical Bug/Steel Pokémon that looks like a Power Ranger Zord. To get the red robot bug, you'll need to raid and be lucky.
Best Pokémon For A Genesect Raid
As a Bug/Steel-type, Genesect is weakest to Fire-type attacks. Fortunately, even newer Pokémon GO should have access to at least one of the top fire-breathing contenders. Accord♈ing to Pokébattler, Shadow Legendary Pokémon are your best counters to a Genesect raid. Particularly, Shadow Moltres and Entei are the strongest duo to bring to the battle. Being Shadow♓ Pokémon gives them a damage boost, and they get even stronger if you were able to to TM a Fire-type charge move to replace Frustration.
Reshiram, the Gen V Dragon/Fire-type Legendary, comes in at a close third. Outside of Legendaries, Charizard and ꦦArcanine are also decent picks. Again, they prove stronger in Shadow form, but their normal forms are okay in a꧙ pinch. It goes without saying that all Pokémon involved should be using Fire-type attacks.
Catching Genesect
Ever since the release of the 5th generation, Pokémon GO's Legendary Pokémon seem to have gotten harder to catch. Even with a good throw and a berry, they're likely to✃ break out. Therefore, there's no real trick to catching Genesect other than patience. Take your time to set up a good throw and use all the Golden Razz or Silver Pinap berries you can afford. Genesect will still break out of your best throws, but every Excellent throw you can manage increases your chances. The good news is that a shiny is a guaranteed catch.
Also of note is that a raid Genesect will be caught at a CP range of 1833-1916. The higher the CP, the bet🐼ter chance it will 🐠get a 3-star appraisal.
