Pokémon GO Fest starts on July 25th, and there seems to be some new special research that will lead up to the event. The research is short, however, and will only have thr🥃ee steps in the questline. On the PVP side, there wi𒐪ll be a new event called the Premiere Cup. What is interesting about this cup is that it limits the Pokémon that trainers can take into battle. The restrictions, according to the datamine, limit Pokémon based on when they were caught. Perhaps this will create generation-specific metagames, ﷽or isolate Pokémon caught during specific years.

Some other smaller details were found in the latest Pokémon GO datamine as well. New stickers were discovered; Kyurem will no longer be able to learn Icy𒅌 Wind; There is extra information regarding the buddy system. There could be challenges related to specific buddies, and there might be other challenges required to evolve specific buddies as well. Buddies bringing trainers' gifts will also show up in the journal.

Of course, things uncovered through datamining can change at any point in time, but it is still interesting to see what is possibly in store for Pokémon GO. With GO Fest kicking off in July, these changes should be implemented into the game soon so trainers can get started on the pre-GO Fest activities. COVID-19 changed the plans of the intial Pokémon GO Fest 2020, now held all over the world instead of in three locations like in previous years. Trainers can sign up to participate in GO Fest by purchasing a ticket in the game for $14.99. The event will take place on July 25th and 26th, where trainers can expect a weekend of great Pokémon GO action.
