Pokémon Go may never quite reach the same player counts it had in 2016, but spending hasn't slowed down one bit. In a new report from intelligence firm Sensor 🌃Tower, it has been noted that developer Niantic's massively popular mobile app has generated around $3.6 billion in revenue since its launch foಞur years ago. That's a ton of Pokécoins!
In Japan last year, Dragon Quest Walk launched and earned an estimated $540 million. Despite that heavy competition, Pokémon Go has remained on top and is still accumulating more money. Sensor Tower believes that Go has dominated what it calls the "location-based gaming" genre because of familiarity with its IP. People just love catching cute Pokémon.
In a comparison chart between other similar apps, Go shows clear domination in terms of sales. The most popular location for Go is in the United States, where t﷽he app has generated $1.3 billion alone. Android users make up the majority of the userbase, accounting for roughly 53.6% of all players. Apple users, however, account for more spending and even hit roughly 21.7% of global sales.
If you thought the current global pandemic would have decreased spending, you'd be completely wrong. We reported last month that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:spending shot up 70% when the coronavirus hit and that statistic follows through with yearly spending. Pokémon Go has already earned more profit this year than in ♌2019 and we're only half-way done.
Sensor Tower's mobile insights strategist Craig Chapple reasoned that "As many parts of the world come out of lockdown, Pokémon GO could see a surge in revenue, as it already has done in May and June. Far from 🎃being a fad, this blockbuster continues 🧔to build on its tremendous success."
A lot of this art🍌icle might be dry and loaded with information that's not particularly useful to gamers, but it shows how lucrative mobile gaming can be.🐽 If you think that microtransactions are going to slow down in triple-A games in the immediate future, you'd be dead wrong. With a single app that probably cost $50-100 million to develop, Niantic has been able to generate more money than most countries. That's kind of insane.
