One of the most effective counters to Max Raid Zeraora are Ghost/Ground-type Pokémon, as this will be immune to several of its moves. The Ghost/Ground Pokémon that currently exist in Pokémon Sword & Shield a♔re the Golett line, the Sandygast line, and the Galarian Yamask line. This means that Golurk, Runerigus, and Palossand are all excellent choices for the battle.
The Lightning Rod Ability is also a huge benefit for this battle. Lightning Rod causes all Electric-type moves✱ to target the user and it will raise their Sp, ATK instead of damaging them. Pokémon like Marowak and Rhyperior are Ground-type creatures that can use Lightning Rod and take no damage. The problem with this strategy is that they are susceptible to non-Electric moves used by Zeraora and moves like Protect don't work on Dynamax Pokémon. Rhyperior and Marowak can use Dig, but the effects of Lightning Rod are suspended when they are underground, so this means that they can't reliably protect their teammates.
