Pokemon moves have been a part of the franchise from day one, and while they have evolved quite substantially in their design, some have stood the test of time. One iconic move that's old but is just as iconic as day one is Hyper Beam.
Hyper Beam is a Normal-type move with a respectable Base Power of 150 and an accuracy of 90. This may make Hyper Beam seem like the quintessential special Normal-type move, but it also forces your Pokemon to skip a turn afterward, as they're exhausted. Still, there are quite a few Pokemon that are capable of taking advantage of such a strong move, regardless of the drawback.
10 Mega E▨volutions ♓
While Mega Evolutions seem to be a relic of the past for the time being, many fans are still very passionate about how the mechanic 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:made subpar Pokemon relevant and cool. They 𝓀are generally respectable in terms of strength as well. Many Mega Pokemon have gargantuan Special Attack stats, perfectly fit to use Hyper Beam when necessary.
Some of the obvious examples are Meg🔥a Legendaries such as Mewtwo, Rayquaza, and Primal Kyogre. Some interesting Megas to teach Hyper Beam would be Mega Pidgeot to utilize STAB or Mega Gardevoir to buff it further with Pixielate. Mega Alakazam also deals incredible damages, purely due to its amazing Special Attack stat.
9 Leg😼endaries And Myt☂hicals
S💛peaking of, Legendary Pokemon and Mythical Pokemon generally tend to have a better stat distribution when compared to regular Pokemon. Thus, they end up being great candidates for one-off powerful attacks such as Hyper⛎ Beam.
Deoxys Attack, Kyogre, Chi-Yu, and pretty much any Legendary with high enough Special Attack can make great use of Hyper Beam. It should be said that these Pokemon usually havওe decent bu✱lk, too, allowing them to potentially live through the recharge turn and hopefully fire another big attack.
8 Xurkitree
On the contrary, if you're not talking about Legendary Pokemon with stats to take advantage of, Hyper Beam is best on a pure Special Attacker. You'll most likely get to fire the move only once, so why not take full advantage of your glass cannon? That's where Xurkitree comes in.
Xurkitree is a great Electric-type Ultra Beast introduced in Generation Seven. While one may prefer other moves that are spammable such as Thunderbolt, and take advantage of Xurkitree's ability Beast Boost, Hyper Beam is a great option for it both for coverage damage against special walls.
7 Blacephalon ღ
Another great Ultra Beast that appreciates Hyper Beam is Blacephalon. This Pokemon is just like Xurkitree with a Fire/Ghost type, as bo⛄th are frail and fast wall-breakers. Blacephalon appreciates a Normal-t𒊎ype attack more though, especially as it sometimes struggles against Dark-types.
Just like with Xurkitree, Blachephalon will most likely fall after firing off one Hyper Beam. But when timed correctly, it can help tremendously to take down a problematic Pokemon. Luckily, Blacephalon usually has ༺a move slot available, as its regular ♚sets are all about spamming the same moves.
6 Cursola
Cursola is an interesting Pokemon. This regional evolution introduced in Generation Eight is weirdly less useful than its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:pre-evolved form, Galarian Corsola. Despite that, Cursola has a 𒈔lot going for it. It has a🦋n amazing Special Attack, sitting at 145, and a great type in pure Ghost.
Cursola is generally used as a disruptor or utility Pokemon, using moves like Strength Sap, Stealth Rock, and Haze. However, having such a great Special Attack, it can easilꦺy hurt the wall-breakers that come in to dispense it. It has decent bulk, too, so it may just live long enough to use Hyper Beam more than once.
5 Vikavolt
Vikavolt is one of the better early route bugs, having amazing stats and a good typing of Bug/ꦍElectric. It also has a badass design, loved by many fans, but unfortunately looks way faster than it actually is. Still, with a Special Attack of 145 and great typing, Vikavolt can be a decent wall-breaker.
One issue Vikavolt has is its lack of explosive damage. Thunder is as good as it gets, and that's sometimes just not good enough, especially against Ground and Dragon-type Pokemon. Thus, giving it Hyper Beam, as well as its usual coverage moves, makes Vikavolt more dangerous than it has any right to be.
4 Iron Moth
Iron Moth 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:is an amazing Pokemon, introduced as a Paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and 𝔉Violet. Iron Moth has access to Quiver 🔯Dance, one of the best set-up moves in the series by far. After a boost, it can absolutely tear through teams and also become bulkier on the special side.
To be fair, Iron Moth doesn't really need Hyper Beam to be better, but if you're keen on using the iconic move, Iron Moth is one of your best bets. Few Pokemon can stand in the way of an Iron Moth with +1 Special Attack using Hyper Beam, and that's without taking into account a potential buff from Quark Drive.
3 🌳 Flutter Mane
Speaking of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:incredibly powerful Paradox Pokemon, Flutter Mane was so good it was the subject of an emergency ban for the early days of Scarlet and Violet. This amazing Ghost/Fairy type has amazing s൲tats and can function as a sweeper and wall alike. Thus, Hyper Beam fits quite well ﷽into its move set.
You can easily fire off Hyper Beams with this thing and don't worry about living the following turn, with the exception of super effective physical moves. Flutter Mane can also use a good Normal-type move at times when its dual STAB just doesn't cut it, such as against Normal or Steel-types.
2 Drampa
Drampa is an absolutely underappreciated Drago൩n-type, introduced back in the Seventh Generation. While it does have subpar defenses and speed, its amazing Special Attack makes it a decent option, especially in lower tiers of play. Its ability Berserk, combined with access to Roost, makes it possible to set up too if your opponent plays a sl🦂ow game.
One other thing that makes Drampa a perfect choice for Hyper Beam is that it's part Normal-type, meaning it gains STAB as well. A great Special Attack and boosts from Berserk and STAB mean Drampa can use some unbelievably powerful Hyper Beams.
1 Porygon-Z
Porygon-Z is the one and only master of Hyper Beam by far and has been for a while now. Porygon-Z is a truly special attacker, unlike its bulky pre-evolution. It has a Special Attack of 135, whic♏h is a bit lower than other entries in this list. Howཧever, Porygon-Z makes up for that and then some with its amazing ability Adaptability.
This buffs its STAB bonus from 1.5 to 2 times, meaning you're firing off a Hyper Beam with a base power of 300. That would be enough to include in your move set, but Porygon actually appreciates the move as its other Normal-type moves leave a lot to be desired. If you're keen on Hyper Beamin, Porygon-Z is the way to go for sure.
