Now, Mr. Mime isn’t the most powerful Pokémon. It isn’t 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the fastest, the tankiest or anything else, either. It’s168澳洲幸运5开奖网: on✤e of the♎ most unintentionally creepy, perhaps, but that’s not e🍌xactly very helpful in competitive battles, is it? As a result of all this, Mr. Mime has only really been seen in the lower tiers of competitive play.

As of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Sword & Shield, though, this curious critter has been given a new lease of life, with a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Galarian form and even a new evolution in Mr. Rime. Is Galarian Mr. Mime better than i♓ts iconic Kanto form, though? Let’s c🔥ompare them in various categories and see if we can decide!

10 Stats: Tie 𒁏🍨

Firstly, we’ve got to consider one of the most important elements that makes one Pok🦩émon better or worse than another: their respective stats. After all, in competitive play, these are really the only things that matter. If you’re not the very best Pokémon for the job, you’re off the team in some players’ views.

When it comes to this, both forms of Mr. Mime have the same base stat total: 460. However, they’re spread slightly differently. The Kanto critter has base 40 HP, 45 Attack, 65 Defense, 100 Special Attack, 120 Special Defense and 90 Speed. Its Galarian counterpart has base 50 HP, 65 Attack, 65 Defense, 90 Special Attack, 90 Special Defense and 100 Speed. Overall, there’s precious little to choose between them, with Kantonian Mr. Mime’s higher peaks and lower troughs offset by the Galar variant’s overall higher totals.

9 Typing: Kan𒆙tonian Mr. Mime

As tends to be the case with Galarian forms, the Mr. Mime of the new region boast a very different typing to their original form. While Mr. Mime as we knew it was retconned to a Fairy/Psychic Pokémon a few generations back, Galarian Mr. Mime is Ice/Psychic, a combination previoꦅusly exclusive to Smoochum and Jynx.

Which is better overall? Well, Ice tends to be regarded as one of the worst typings in the game, having great coverage but a whole lot of weaknesses in exchang♌e. While both variants have great STAB and only two resistances, Galarian Mr. Mime has twice as many weaknesses (Dark, Ghost, Steel, Fire, Rock and Bug compared to Poison, Steel and Ghost), making its typing worse overall in our bo෴ok.

8 ඣ Abilities: Tie 🌳

As we’ve mentioned, Mr. Mime doesn’t really take the all-out offense role very often. Instead, it’s historically favoureღd the tricky/ut🔜ility approach. This is reflected in the Abilities it has available to it. When it comes to that, it’s just impossible to choose between its forms.

Kanto’s Mr. Mime has access to Soundproof, Filter and Technician. While it doesn’t have the defenses to get much use from Filter, both Soundproof and Technician have been crucial t✨o its Baton Pass shenanigans and damage output respectively. Meanwhile, Galarian Mr. Mime’s Vital Spirit, Screen Cleaner and Ice Body have their own uses. Screen Cleaner in particular can be invaluable against those darn G-Max Resonances from Gigantamax Lapras (and Prankster Grimmsnarl’s screens). In a way, all of these Abilities are just as useful but just as niche, so we’ll declare this round a tie too.

7 🌱 Design: Galarian Mr. 🦹Mime

This, too, was a hard one to call. While the original Mr. Mime is an instantly recognizable Pokémon for sure, is it one with the immediate appeal of Pikachu or one of Kanto’s starters? Absolutely not. Many find this thing pretty darn terrifying (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:if you’ve seen Detective Pikachu, you’ll fully understandও how unsett🌊ling this thing can be).

Galarian Mr. Mime, by contrast, looks much more like a happy-go-lucky funster in our eyes. By switching things up a bit while (arguably) improving on the or▨iginal concept, there’s something about Galar’s Mr. Mime we find much more appealing.

6 Power: Kantoni🦩an Mr. Mime

Now, granted, Kantonian Mr. Mime is at a huge disadvantage here. After all, itsᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ Galarian counterpart has an evolved form, which it doesn’t. You’d think that Mr. Rime’s existence makes the latter the more powerful of the two by default, but it’s not as simple as all ไthat. when comparing both strictly on their own merits, Kanto’s Mr. Mime actually comes out on top.

As we’ve already seen, Galarian Mr. Mime has the higher physical attack (base 65 vs base 45), but both are so pitifully low that Attack is really a non-factor. When it comes to Special Attack, Kantonian Mr. Mime wins, with b꧙ase 100 Special Attack to its counterpart’s base 90. Couple this with the former’s Hidden Ability Technician (very nice with Magical Leaf, Confusion and such), and it wins in terms of damage output.

5 Movepool: Galarian Mr. Mim🐻e

We know that Mr. Mime has al🐭ways been a tricky Pokémon. With access to a vastrange of sneaky supportive moves, such as Helping Hand, Encore, Baton Pass, screens, Ally Switch and much more, it can be incredibly unpredictable.

While both forms of Mr. Mime can pull off all kinds of Fake Out shenanigans, we’d give a narrow win to Galarian Mr. Mime here. It may learn less moves overall, but Kantonian Mr. Mime has so many options that many of them won’t ever come into play. The addition of Ice typing for Galarian Mr. Mime allows it to (weakly) set off allies’ Weakness Policies with priority, which can be a huge boon for a var✨iety of teams. Whether this is worth more than its Kantonian counterparts’ options is up for debate, but we’d argue that it is.

4 🦄 🔴 Media Appearances: Kantonian Mr. Mime

Admittedly, this is a completely one-sided contest. We’ve got to consider other angles that make Pokémon better or worse overall, though, so how do things look for Galarian Mr. Mime in other Pokémon media?

Well… it’s essentially non-existent. We’ve seen nary a sniff of it in the anime or manga, while the classic Mr. Mime has two decades of appearances under its belt. From Ash’s mom’s Mimey to Sabrina’s mighty Mr. Mime in Pokémon Adventures (and, yep, Detective Pikachu’s Mr. Mime𒉰 again), Kantonian Mr. Mime have always made their presence felt in꧙ a way that the Galar version has yet to.

3 Niche Value:🍃 Galarian Mr. Mime

With its myria☂d of supportive and disruptive options coupled with its potential to go purely offensive, you can never be quite sure what any given Mr. Mime is going to do. A lot of fun strategies involving this peculiar creature have come to light over the years as a result.

For our Pokémon Dollars, though, its Galarian form just wins out in terms of interesting niches. Setting off foes’ Weakness Policies with weak priority can be utterly game changing, and the existence of Mr. Rime even gives it the opportunity to run an Eviolite set. If you enjoy experimenting with quirky strategies, Galarian Mr. Mime will probably be your best friend in Sword & Shield.

2 💛 Potential: Galarian Mr. Mime

We’ve waxed lyrical about the many options av𓆉ailable to both versions of Mr. Mime, but there’s one crucial thing that gives the new Galar variant an edge: it has access to a new evolution. Mr. Rime is a very interesting Pokémon in its own right and worth exploring.

Retaining its Ice/Psychic typing, Mr. Rime has more overall offense and defense (Eviolite aside), being well-rounded enough to fit a range of roles. Its original form is far from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:useless before evolving, but simply having the potentia🦋l to do so puts it ahead of its Kantonian competition by some distance.

1 💖Overall Winner: Galarian Mr. Mime

All in all, Mr. Mime has never been the most powerful or generally useful Pokémon in competitive terms. It’s finally received the attention it deserves with Generation VIII, tho💯ugh, but this doesn’t mean the Galarian version in leaps and bounds ahead of the familiar Mr. Mime.

Kanto’💟s Mr. Mime still has some neat tricks and over two decades of🥀 Poké-fame over the newcomer. Overall, however, its Galarian variant is an intriguing new Pokémon with a brand new evolution, and we can appreciate that.
