Overall, I believe this to be a largely positive thing. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Megas were great, and although a few of them skewed the competit🅘ive scene a little, that’s nothing that regular Pokemon like Landorus or Incineroar haven’t done before.
However, when I was coming up with some 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:P🧸okemon Legends: Z-A conspiracy ♎theories yesterday, a troubling thought crossed my mind. What if they decided to give Incineroar, probably the best support Pokemon in the game, a Mega Evolution?
Here’s my logic. If Mega Evolution is returning, it’s a safe bet the starters will get new Megas. They got new forms in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Legends: Arceus, which could be the case🌠 again in Z-A, or they could follow the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire route to give them Megas. “Don’t worry,” I hear you say. “There’s still only a one-in-nine chance that Incineroar is picked as the Fire-type starter.” Wrong.
Typhlosion was the starter in Legends: Arceus, so it can be safely ruled out. It just had a Hisuian form, it wouldn’t get another so soon after. Simiꩵlarly, if Game Freak is giving the new starters Mega Evolutions, then we can r𓆏ule out Charizard and Blaziken, which both already have Megas. Arceus didn’t use any of the Gen 4 starters, so we can rule out Delphox for that reason. Suddenly, we’re down to five. A 20 percent chance of Mega Incineroar. But it gets worse.
The remaining options for the Fire-type starter are Infernape, Emboar, Incineroar, Cinderace, and Skeledirge. We’re not dealing with definites here any more, but I believe that Pokemon wouldn’t design a new form of its most recent starter. Skeledirge removed. I also think that it may give Empoleon a Mega evolution, thanks to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Lumiose City’s Paris connection, and the𒉰 Emperor Penguin’s resemblance to Napoleon. Arceus had starters from thrꦦee different games, so this rules out Infernape, too.
This puts us with Emboar,🥃 Incineroar, or Cinderace. Which of these sells the most merch? Which is the most popular? It’s definitely not Emboar, but it won’t be decided on popularity alone. On face value, there’s just an 11 percent chance of us receiving Mega Kalosian Incineroar. But as stated, that rises to a 20 percent chance very quickly. Looking logically, there’s a 33 percent chance, maybe even 50/50 if we do discount Emboar on the basis that nobody really likes it. Those odds are far too high for my liking.
Let’s take a minute to explain why I hate Incineroar, and the idea of Mega Incineroar, so much. Incineroar is too good. It’s got a♍ high Attack stat, good defences, and a serviceable amount of HP. It’s usually run as bulky support thanks to its good moveset, with U-Turn and Parting Shot giving it ways to switch out while still dealing damage or debuffing the opponent.
The worst thing about Incineroar, however, is its Hidden Ability. Intimidate reduces your opponent’s attack stat by one stage when you switch in. If you’re in a double battle, as is the case for esports VGC formats, it affects both opposing Pokemon. With Inꦰcineroar’s bulk and its multiple moves that allow it to switch out for free, you can easily stack these debuffs to neuter your o😼pponent.
Now, Mega Incineroar would change this. I think they would change the stats completely, turning it into a fast sweeper, perhaps even going as far as making it a glass cannon. Game Freak has previously used Megas to change a Pokemon’s utility – just look at Mega Gyarados. Mega Incineroar wou🎃ld also, crucially, have a different ability to its regular form.
This all sounds good! Different Incineroar means no Intimidate-Parting Shot Incineroar, right? Wrong again. Remember, you can choose when in a battle to🧸 Mega Evolve. So, you can use support Incineroar for the opening, weakening your opponent’s te💝am, and then Mega Evolve to sweep. All with one Pokemon. Imagine if it gets some broken ability like Contrary or Huge Power, too?
Among all this chaos, in which I’m certain that this one-in-three chance of seeing Mega Incineroar will come to pass, there could be one saviour. I rulꦑed out Charizard early doors because it already has a Mega Evolution. In fact, it has two. Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. Is Pokemon Legends: Z-A the time to release Mega Charizard Z? Against all odds, I’m praying to Arceus that it is.
