Pokémon Red & Blue are arguable the most recognizable "classic" video games of all time, and their lead characters (who are named after the games) are equally as beloved. Red is a no-nonsense Pokémon Master that usually appears to ramp up the difficulty. Blue is his rival, an innately gifted trainer, and a fantastic leader of the Viridian City Gym. And now Green/Leaf is a long-since beloved character that Western fans finally got a glimpse of in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon Let's Go. 10 Green And Leaf's Long-Term Relationship With Legendaries 🃏
First and foremost is "Leaf". We'll come back to why that name is in quotes later but for now just know that there's Red, Blue, and Leaf. Leaf is the third Battle Master Legend who shows up once players beat the Pokémon League and have captured Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave. After catching the Legendary Pokémon, people might have chuckled by Leaf's first couple lines of dialog. What players might not know though is that this obsession with Legendary Pokémon has always been a trait of hers ever since the days of the Pokémon Adventures Manga, in which she was "raised" by Ho-Oh. While ♍Leaf is apparently a "different" character, this is still likely a reference to that.
9 You Need A Full Tꦦeam To Challenge Red
The end-all-be-all challenge against Red at the top of Mt. Silver in Pokémon Gen 2 might still be the absolute peak of the Pokémon Franchise. Red doesn't play games, joke around, or even talk like the other trainers, and his team is usually made up of insanely powerful Gen 1 classics. What people might not know though is that in order to challenge him in Pokémon Let's Go in the post-game, players must have a full party. No rocking only a Pikachu like Ash would, no, Red only battles trainers who take this as seriously ꦺas he does.
8 Red's Pikachu Doesn't Have A Ligܫht Ball Or Volt T💯ackle
So, there are a lot of mechanics that Pokémon Let's Go takes out in the hopes of reaching a broader audience. We can't list them all, but hold items are abilities are for sure two of them. Why is this important to Red? Well, beca♓use in almost every single battle we've done with him over the years, his Pikachu has always held a light ball so it would be more powerful, and it would always use Volt Tackle.
Now🐟, both of these things are gone. They don't make a huge difference, but it makes Mega Evolutions a lot more awkward, and it sort of makes his Pikachu a real walk in the pꦐark if you know what we mean.
7 The Starter Spread And Why It's So Confusing ℱ
So, it's changed a few times over the years, but each of the three Gen 1 Trainers (Red, Blue, and Green) has their own "canon" starter. Obviously, it should be the starter who's color matches their names, but that wasn't the case a lot of the time. In fact, for most of the games in which you challenge Red, he has all three starters in his party! We'll once again look at the Pokémon Adventures manga in which Red has Venusaur, Green has Blastoise, and Blue has Charizard. And oh hey, would you look at that, Venusaur is the only starter they gave Red in Pokémon Let's Go, once again homaging the beloved manga serieܫs and offic♌ial "canon".
6 🌠 Red Lost Most Of His "Bite" ♕
Like we've said multiple times now, Red is not the jokey type of trainer, he's all business. This might seem odd, considering Ash is based on him and Ash is such a goofball, 🍌but it's true. He rarely talks, if at all, and is usually scowling or has a neutral expression in every one of his appearances.
But in Pokémon Let's Go and by extension Pokémon Masters, Red is a lot more soft, smiley, and overall social. It's like they took all the bite out of him and he actually talks multiple times! Honestly, we're hoping this doesn't become a trend, or🗹 else of mad-boy Red.
5 🐽 🥃 Blue Finally Acts Like An Adult
In contrast to Red's downgrade, Blue really has had a glow up. While Ash is like Red in design he's way different personality-wise, but Gary Oak and Blue are pretty much the same person, both in design and personality. In the original game/anime they were both way too cocky, very innately talented, and promised to "smell us later". Well, this version of Blue at least has completely grown up by the events of Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee. He acts more like an ol𓂃der brother or casual teacher than he does a rival in this game and while we slightly miss it, its an overall improvement.
4 Looks Like Blue Borrowed His ꦫGrandpa's Tauros
Red isn't t🍸he only one who has had his stereotypical team changed, Blue did as well. Blue now has a Tauros in his final team, which is apparently a reference to a scrapped battle you'd be able to have with Professor Oak in the original game that changed based on the player's starter but always included a level 66 Tauros. So, we're happy to see that Blue has both matured as a character and also doesn't mind using his Grandpa's Pokémon.
3 Where's That Giant Bird With The Mullꦡet?
For those who may not be longtime Pokémon fans, Blue has almost always had a Pidgey, Pidgeotto, or Pidgeot in his party. It's obvious the dude picked up one of these 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:commonly weak yet lovable feathered friends in an early route and then just carried🌱 it with him all the way until the end, which is something any Pokémon fan can relate to.

Quite frankly, this universe isn't technically the same one as the original Red & Blue games. There have always been fan theories about alternate timelines in Pokémon but it wasn't until (we think) Ultra Ruby & Omega Sapphire that those alternate dimensions were actually confirmed. Well, Pokémon Let's Go apparen𝔉tly takes place in an alternate re-telling of the Gen 1 games so that Blue, Red, and Green can all take part in the story without stealing all agency from us, the player.
1 Leaf Is Not Green, But ꦓShe Is From Leaf Green?
So, why do we keep calling her Leaf and not Green? Well, because apparently, they aren't the same person. Remember, this is an alternate retelling, and while Red and Blue share the same names and their alternate universe counterparts, Leaf is a slight deviation from Green who first originated in Pokémon Green, a game that only came out in Japan (which both the game and new female character in168澳洲幸运5开奖网: Leaf Green are a reference to).
