Game Freak was recently 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the victim of an enormous hack, exposing decades of internal documents about every generation of Pokemon, even including 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a playable build of Legends: Z-A. There have been some startling revelations from the leaked files, varying from epic ballads about 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the creation myth🌠 of the Pokemon universe to… Pokemon and human relations.

It’s funny that Game Freak has 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:official documentation on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:raunchy stories with Pokemon, but it's t🍨he rich, in-depth lore that has piqued🅰 my interest more than anything else.

I enjoyed Black and White, and liked X/Y more than most, but I’ve not felt Rattata’s teeth sink into me since Gen 4. Diamond a🍸nd Pearl have a mystifying atmosphere that few generations come close to, which bleeds into its wider story. When night falls, you and your friend sneak out under the cover of darkness to catch your own Pokemon, only to stumble on Professor Rowan and his assistant murmuring about something seeming “different” at th🐲e lake. They’re cut short, and wander off in quiet, leaving this thread dangling.

Lake Verity is far more understated than 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Lavender Town, yet manages to be just a😼s alluring from that brief, miniscule interactio♉n.

I came here in search of a gyrados, but left with so many unanswered questions♊ instead. Something about the pixelated water ripples and serenading music latched onto that mystery and made the whole area feel oddly unsettling. I later came to learn that Lake Verity, Acuity, and Valor were home to three legendary Pokemon, tying them to the saga 🅠of Arceus and the very origins of this world. The larger than life mythology was enthralling, and I was desperate to find out more, but as the leaks have shown, we only ever scratched the surface in the games.

Arceus And The Creation Of The Pokemon Universe

Prior to the leaked creation myth document, details on Arceus were surprisingly scarce. We knew that it was born from an egg in the void, earning it the title of “Original One”, hinting at them being the very first Pokemon. It was also said that they birthed the universe itself when✱ they created time (Dialga), space (Palkia), and antimatter (Giratina).

At some point, it banished Giratina to the Distortion World, while D🧸ialga and Palkia are said to have helped create the world of Pokemon before returning to their own dimensions as well. Much later in the universe’s history, three lake guardians, Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit, were born from the same egg. They were each granted the ability to calm and control Dialga and Palkia by Arceus. There was already plenty to latch onto for speculation, but there’s so much more depth in the story that Game Freak never released.

Before I delve into the ♚leaked creation myth in detail, I’d like to preface that this isn’t strictly canon. Ideas may have been repurposed (such as 🅺the Tree of Life), but it was written before Giratina ever existed, and so not all of it can be taken as fact over a decade later.

We know Arceus hatched from an egg, but the document reveals that the fragments of its shell became giants who warred with Arceus in a fierce battle. Once slain, Arceus fed their corpses its own blood. What became of these giants is unclear. It also reveals that Arceus split itself in two to create Dialga and Palkia, who then had three children of their own — Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. The three being their parents’ own guardians is an interesting twist on the leg💙end that we would have never been privy to if not for these leaks.

But there’s far more to their story than merely serving as pacifiers to their enraged parents. The three were each entrusted with the seed of life, which blossomed into an all-consuming tree that suffocated the world. To save all life from being snuffed out, Dialga and Palkia birthed Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre, who wrapped themselves around the tree and slammed their bodies into its t💯൲runk, breaking it into three pieces — the sky, earth, and ocean.

This isn’t just a vague origin story, it’s an entire fictional mythology. The𒈔 tree of life harkens to Norse stories of Yggdrasil, the imagery of a god splitting in two feels like a direct parallel to Zeus halving humans to create soul mates — especially with Dialga and Palkia forming a bond and having children — and wars with giants are so well-documented across theology that it’s practically a trope at this point. The storytelling here is far more compelling than the broader strokes the games leave us with.

We find the Tree of Life in Super Mystery Dungeon (released later in 2015), and discover that it has be🥂come a home to the reincarnation of Mew — Xerneas. Where they fit into this story is another layer of intrigue, but lore about the♕ Tree of Life in the games is frustratingly rare.

The trickles of this story that found their way into Gen 4 were enough to hook me, so m🐻uch so that no game in the series has ever come close to captivating me in quite the same way. But the entire thing? I’ve never been more excited to dig into the world of Pokemon and find out more, to scour wikis and read up on every little detail.

There's So Much To Discuss And Speculate On

A closeup of Mewtwo from Pokemon The First Movie.

The long debate about how Arceus can be the first Pokemon when that title rightfully belongs to Mew finally makes sense — Arceus isn’t a Pokemon. Humans descend from Palkia, and Pokemon from Dialga. Are these ancient giants who warred with Arceus the same as the Legendary Giants of the Hoenn and Galar regions, or perhaps l🍬iteral giants like AZ, the king of Kalos? And what about the Tree of Life — if it split into three pieces, what did we find in Super Mystery Dungeon?

To see these ideas unraveled in the games themselves would bring Pokemon to new heights in the world of fantasy storytelling. There’s so much history here to debate and ponder on that shouldn’t just inform the stories being told, but be brought into them more deeply so that we can continue those conversations and find ourselves even m🔜ore invested in each game’s world.

I’m a sucker for mythological puzzles, deciphering vague, untrustworthy accounts of history and finding an interpretation that resonates with me — it’s why I love FromSoftware games so much — and going by the reception to this document leaking, there are clearly Pokemon fans out there who want🌠 the same from this world. Knowing Game Freak has that passion and drive behind the scenes is so exciting; there’s a care to the bigger picture that’s gripping to simply read in the cliffnotes. I only wish Game Freak would take it further in the games themselves.
