The Pokemon franchise has had many iterations of its universe over the years. Each medium, whether it's the anime, manga, or games, often act as completely separate continuities of the Pokemon universe. That leads to some key differences in certain Trainers ꦏand the Pokemon they own. The one game that ex🍸emplifies this the most might be Pokemon Masters EX.
For all its merits as a game in its own right, Pokemon Masters EX has quite a few inconsistencies with the Pokemon universe most fans of the franchise know. While the Trainers listed here work just fine with their respective s👍ync pair Pokemon in the logic of the Masters universe, any other Pokemon fan that comes into this game blind will be shocked to see the Pokemon they sync paired with.
9 ღ Morty & Drifblim
It's somewhat understandable that Johto Gym Leader Morty wouldn't have a Gengar, since Agatha already has one as her sync pair. But it wouldn't hurt to just give another Trainer a Gengar, would it? A bunch of Trainers were just given random Pokemon because someone else has the same ace as them, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Ghost-type specialist got the short end of the stick.
The Pokemon he did end up having a sync pair💮 with, Drifblim, is kind of a stretch when looking at Morty's other appearances. Of course, Drifblim isn't available in the Johto Pokedex, and he only uses one in rematches, not in official Gym battles.
8 Noland & Pinsir 🍷
While Noland technically doesn't have a Pokemon assigned to him thanks to th🐽e nature of his battle fa🎉cility in Hoenn, giving him a Pinsir is just the definition of random. It's not a Hoenn Pokemon, and it's not even among the rental Pokemon available at the Battle Factory.
There's no real significant relationship between Noland and Pinsir in any medium. Granted, in terms of design alone, the pairing works well enoug♑h. Being a hard-nosed, no-frills Trainer, it's fitting that he's sync paired with a Pokemon that has similar design qualities.
7 🌼 Nate & Braviary
There are four player characters that hail from Unova, all of whom make an appearance in Masters. The only problem is that there are three Starterﷺs, so if you were to give one Starter each, someone would be left out.
Nate's the one left with an empty plate, with Hilbert getting Samurott, Hilda getting Emboar, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Rosa getting Serperior. Braviary, then, is a bit of a random choice. While it is a 𒊎Unova Pokemon, there'🧸s barely any canonical connection between it and Nate. His only instance of using one as a non-playable character is as a potential Pokemon in the Battle Subway, which many other Pokemon can claim.
6 👍 🦄 Winona & Pelipper
This is another problem with two Trainers having the same ace Pokemon. Winona was infamous to Generat🦹ion III players thanks to her Dragon Dance-wielding Al🅷taria. The problem is that another character from Hoenn that's also in Masters, Lisia, has an irreplaceable gimmick centered around Altaria.
Winona now has to settle for Pelipper, and while she does own one in the games, it's still a weird fit. For one, Pelipper is much less elegant-looking compared to Altaria, which isn't great for a Gym Leader that prides herself in the elegance of her type. Secondly, Pelipper is more commonly utilized in the main series of games for its Water-typing, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:thanks to having the Drizzle ability.
5 ♔ May & Swampert
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:May's starter Pokemon in most iterations of her character (aside from the core series games where her starter is dependent on the player's), from the anime to a♏ll of her manga counterparts, is Blaziken. It was a bit bizarre, then, for Masters to go off-speed and give her a Mudkip-turned-Swampert instead🐓.
To be fair, she has owned a Swampert in the Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire animated trailer, but that was alongside a Blaziken. It's weird that Masters left Torchic, a ve🍌ry popular Pokemon, hanging; no other Trainer has paired up with one yet. It's especially weird considering they could've given Swampert to someone like the Frontier Brain, Tucker, who canonically owns one.
4 💧 Calem & Meowstic
This is a similar case with Nate and Braviary🌠, but Calem doesn't even have the "other Trainers already have the other Starters" excuse. While Calem has actually been seen using Meowstic as a rival, there's no real reason for Calem to not be sync paired with a Starter.
The XY friend characters — Shauna in particular, who picks the starter weak to yours — don't appear in Masters, so there aren't too many Trainers to spread the three Starters around. So if Serena has a Delphox, why does Calem have a Meowstic instead of a Chesnaught or Greninja? It's not like they're taken; neit🌳her of the two remaining Kalos Starters has been sync paired with another character yet.
3 🐼 Professor Sycamore & Xerneas
There's nothing wrong with professors making appearances as battlers, but what's with Professor Sycamore here? A Xerneas? What does Xerneas find in Professor Sycamore that warrants it being his sync pair Pokemon? Poor Professor Kukui just has a Lꦛycanroc.
Sure, Professor Sycamore probably has extensive knowledge about Xerneas after being knee-deep in research. A few iterations of his character have even encountered Xerneas in person. He's even been seen owning some strong Pokemon, such as a Mega Garchomp in the anime. But he's never owned 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the Legendary Fairy-type. With all due respect, the l﷽iteral giver of life would▨n't put itself under the command of some professor.
2 Professor Oak & Mew 🧜 ♔
Yes, it gets even weirder. What is it with Pokemon Professors owning Legendary and Mythical Pokemon? Professor Oak is probably the most esteemed in his profession in the Pokemon universe, but why does he literally own Mew?
He had a Nidorino as his former sync pair, which was a nice touch that threw it back to the battle shown in the intro of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Generation I games. But it's not every day that you just run into Mew and it just lets you take owners൲hip of it. Granted, the game version of Oak does have rare artifacts related to Legendary Pokemon on hand every once in a while, but having Mew under his wing is a bit much.
1 ♌ Silver & Ho-Oh
This is easily the most absurd Legendary sync pair, and it kind of speaks for itself. Why does Silver, of all Tr❀ainers, get the almost god-like Legendary Pokemon, Ho-Oh?
This is another case similar to the Nate and Braviary situation, where Pokemon Masters gave all the Johto starters to three other characters; Ethan got Typhlosion, Lyra got Meganium, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kris got Feraligatr. So what was their solution? To give Silver a storyline around Ho-Oh, of co𝓰urse. While this isn't to say Silver is weak or totally unworthy of Ho-Oh's presence, to straight-up give Ho-Oh to him is ju🅘st absurd.
