The Bad Trainer, Gardevoir, & Ninetales
In the human world, there was once a wicked trainer who tried to grab one of Ninetales' tails. The Pokédex entries for Ninetales in various Pokémon games have refer✃red to a curse that will afflict someone for one thousand years if they grab one of its tails. This fate would have befallen this trainer, had his loyal Gardevoir not absorbed the curse in their place. The human then abandoned their Gardevoir, leaving it to wander in the spirit world.
The Human Pokémon
At the start of the game, the player decides which Pokémon they will play in, as well as which Pokémon their partner will b🔯e. The player wakes up in the Pokémon world, with no memories of their previous life. They are quickly drafted into a Rescue Team, as natural disasters are ravaging the world and lots of Pokémon have been trapped in the wilderness. It's during these early adventures that they run into Team Meanies, made up of Gengar, Ekans, and Medicham, as well as the gold-ranked Team ACT made up of Alakazam, Charizard, and Tyranitar. Though Alakazam suspects the player's true nature (thanks to its high intellect), it doesn't say anything.
The player and their partner head to the Great Canyon to consult the wise Xatu that lives there. Xatu tells them the legend of the bad trainer, Gardevoir, and the Ninetales curse. Ninetales prophecized that the human would still be punished, as it would be reborn as a Pokémon, heralding a number of natural disasters in the world. The player believes that they might be the bad trainer from the prophecy. Gengar overhears this story and returns to town to tell everyone what it heard. The player then starts to have dreams in which they are speaking ✱to Gardevoir, who is watching over them as a spirit.
When the player returns home, they soon find out they have been exiled. Alakazam gives the player and their partner a head start. The player and their partner flee into the wild, where they run into Absol, who is looking for the cause of the natural disasters. Team ACT corners the player on🌄 the summit of Mt. Freeze,ౠ and the Ninetales from the legends appear to stop the battle. Ninetales reveals that the ancient story is true, but the player is not the cursed human. The player is allowed to return home and continue their Rescue Team, but a bigger problem has arrived, as Groudon has awoken.
Team ACT tries to defeat Groudon, but they are overwhelmed. It's up to the player to calm the Legendary Pokémon. Xatu tells everyone that a falling star will soon crash into the planet, so the player must seek out the aid of Rayquaza to destroy it. Gardevoir comes to the player in their dreams and tells them that they are the savior of the Pokémon world and that they had to era🍌s♒e the memories of their human life. The player's team must then go into the sky and defeat Rayquaza. Once he calms down, Rayquaza will destroy the falling star and the natural disasters will end. The player is almost trapped in the dark world following the attack, but Gengar saves their life. With the Pokémon world saved, the player returns to their human life and the story ends...
Secrets Revealed
...Until the post🍬-game con💟tent. The player returns to the Pokémon world and the adventure continues. The story of the bad trainer needs to reach its conclusion.
In the post-game content, the player has the chance to evolve their team and battle many Legendary Pokémon. It's revealed that Gengar wishes to reach the summit of Mt. Freeze. Once there, Gengar reveals that he is the bad trainer and wants to make amends. The player and Gengar must take the crest given to them by 🍰Ninetales to the bottom of the Murky Cave. Gengar is able to break the curse when it shows true remorse for its actions as a human. Gardevoir is then restored to life, without any memories of its time in the human world. Once back in the base, Gengar introduces himself to Gardevoir for the first time.
