Visuals aren't the only thing that has changed in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. There have been several new moves and abilities that Pokemon gain access to, not to mention 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Terastallization. It's safe to say that, because of these additions, the world of Pokemon battling has changed. That said, these changes haven't benefited every Pokemon.
From removing or weakening moves to changing previously broken abilities, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:nerfs aren't anything new for the Pokemon fܫranchise. It comes with the territory as developers see new ways in which their creations are used. In Ge🎃n 9, here are the Pokemon that received the biggest nerf.
7 Cinderace
This, unfortunately, was a long time coming. While the popularity of Galar's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fire starter is frequently fluctuating, no one could deny this Pokemon's effectiveness in battle. After all, with its Speed stat and Hidden Ability Libero, the Striker Pokemon was able to freely change its typing with each move. With Scarlet and Violet, however, Cinderace no longer has this option.
Libero was changed in Gen 9 to where a Pokemon (i.e. Cinderace) can only change its type once per entry with this Ability. To change Cinderace's type once more, you would need to recall the Pokemon and then send them out again to get the benefits of Libero. The Ability Protean also gained a similar nerf in Gen 9.
6 The Treasureꦑs Of Ruin
Everybody can agree that Gen 9's Mythical Pokemon are something else. Just their names make them stand out from other Pokemon and their designs just add to this. On top of all this, their ruinous abilities made these Pokemon terrifying to go up against as it either makes a target more susceptible to their best stat or it makes it that much harder to damage the Mythical. With all of these going for this quartet, it's not surprising to learn that these Pokemon were nerfed.
In the day one patch, each member of this quartet had their best stat toned down marginally. This was mainly due to Chien-Pao's incredibly high attack stat, but as they are a quartet, and they should be equal, all four of them suffered the same fate. This isn't terrible for three out of the four Treasures, but Wo-Chien has undoubtedly suffered the most comparatively given how weak it is compared to the others.
5 Scizor
Since its introduction back in Gen 2, this sleek and imposing Bug-Steel type is once more in the spotlight, though for different reasons than you might expect. Its looks, coupled with its above-average stats, have made the Pincer Pokemon not only popular with 🌺the fans but also in the competitive scene. Now, however, Scizor might be seen less than before.
The main draw of this Pokemon, besides its spectacular design, is its Ability Technician, which increases the strength of moves whose base power is less than 60. This allowed Scizor to make great use of moves like Knock Off and B🐭ug Bite to get rid of items and berries as we as Dual Wingbeat. Unfortunately for Scizor, it has lost access to these moves. Scizor can still make do wit🌠h Bullet Punch and Fury Cutter, but it has lost a great deal of its utility with these losses.
4 Weavile
Weavile has always been a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:frequent attendee of VGC tournaments. With its impressive Speed and Attack stats, the Sharp Claw Pokemon was an impressive physical sweeper and a perfect counter to Pokemon like Dragonite and Garchomp. While Weavile's stats remain the same in Gen 9, its movepool has become rather limited.
With the removal of the Tutor moves from the Isle of Armor, Weavile loses access to one of its best moves to date. Triple Axel, being an Ice type move that hits three times with each consecutive hit increasing in power, was a stapl🔜e for the Dark🍎-Ice type and the Pokemon greatly suffers without it. Additionally, the Pokemon also loses Knock Off making Weavile ineffective against Pokemon like Chansey with Eviolite.
3 Lurantis
Lurantis is one of those Pokemon that people underestimate until it's cutting through their team like a warm knife through butter. With its Ability Contrary, and with a little help from the move Superpower, Lurantis could repeatedly increase its Attack and Defense stats to the point where it could potentially one-shot a Stonejurner. Unfortunately, in Scarlet and Violet, this is no longer possible for the Grass type.
While the Bloom Sickle Pokemon may have returned, its ability to use Superpower has not. Now, the only move that Lurantis gets that would benefit from the Ability Contrary is Leaf Storm, and, with the Pokemon's subpar Special Attack stat, it's not viable.
2
Blissey
As an infamous stall Pokemon, it was only natural that Blissey would suffer from the debuffs Nintendo gave to stall moves. While a good number of trainers are ecstatic that stall has been reduced to what it is, the nerfs have made Blissey less than viable.
While the Pokemon's bulk remains the same, Blissey loses access to two crucial moves in Wish and Toxic. The Happiness Pokemon does have other healing moves to make up for the loss of Wish, but Toxic can't be replaced so easily. Because of the Normal type's below-average attack stats, Toxic was really the only way Blissey could do damage to other Pokemon. It can't even provide a safe switch-in as it loses Teleport as well. Without these moves, Blissey is just a wall.
1 Greninja
As previously stated, Protean was nerfed so that a Pokemon can only change its type once per switch-in. Greninja, a Pokemon who gets access to this Ability, does suffer because of this change because the Pokemon no longer gets STAB with each of its attacks. However, this change isn't even the worst thing they've done to this Pokemon.
Ash-Greninja no longer exists. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:That transformation a Greninja can undergo should they have Battle Bond is now nonexistent. Instead, Battle Bond acts as a modified Moxie, giving Greninja a boost in Attack and Special Attack with each Pokemon it knocks out. While this isn't a terrible Ability, a lot of people liked the Ash-Greninja design and are sad to see it go.
