A lot of time passed between the release of the first games set in the Hoenn region — Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald — and their eventual remakes — OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire. Wᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚith this immense amount of time between games, new features, new technology, and new Pokémon all came around.
ꦯAs a result, there a quite a few changes to the Hoenn region between games. Some of t🍒hese changes are to mechanics, some are to the region itself, and some are to the people who live there. Here are the most notable changes to Hoenn between Generation III and Generation VI.
Note: This list is about the change♕s to the Hoenn region itself, rather♒ than just a list of new mechanics in the series.
13 ꩲ Delta Episode ꦺ
One of th💖e largest additions to the remake games is the post-game Delta Episode. This quest tasks the player with heading into space on the back of Rayquaza to stop an incoming meteoroid that is threatening to hit the Hoenn region.
Once there, it turns out that Deoxys is aboard the meteoroid and engages the player in a space battle, somewhat like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a final boss. It also introduces a new character, Zinnia, who plays a pivotal r🍃ole in the mission.
12 New Mauvilleꦿ
Mauville City in Geꦕn III was a small tow🌳n at a crossroads in the center of the region, home to a gym, a game corner, a bike shop, and a few other buildings.
In Generation VI, though, Mauville has been developed into a huge indoor city with bustling shops, a residential tower, and much more.168澳洲幸运5开奖网: It's now called "New Mauville" and is the main hub of the Hoenn region.
11 𒉰 Total Population
With the improved graphics, technological capabilities, and tweaks to certain areas, the population of the region increased significantly. The overall popula♔tion incꦏreased from 598 to 694 between the generations.
The larger 𝕴population definitely makes the threat of an incoming meteoroid all the more significant and dangerous.
10 New Areas
Several new areas became a🦋ccessible in the Hoenn region, added for a variety of purposes because of new mechanics and features.
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mirage Spots can appear, rotating every 24 hours under normal conditions, and including new landmasses. Some of them are used to find Legendary Pokémon, while others contain hard-to-find Pokémo꧑n and hidden items.
Secret Bases have also been upgraded to Super-Secret Bases, and can be made in new locations that didn't exist i൩n Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. These locations include the Secret Shores, Secret Meadows, and Secret Islet.
9 𓆏 Mechanics from Other Games
Some mechani𝓰cs that were introduced between Gen III and Gen VI have caused some changes to the Hoenn region in order to be accommodated in Gen VI.
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Horde Encounters are now possible, changing which Pokémon appear on routes. More TMs now exist, as well, increased from 50 to 100, and the﷽y are no longer single-use. Other, smaller changes were made, too, including tweaks to some trainer's lineups and the addition of new trainer classes: Fairy Tale Girl, Backpacker, Mysterious Sisters, and more.
8 ♊ Mega Evolution
One of the most important new mechanics that was added to Hoenn in OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire is168澳洲幸运5开奖网: Mega Evolution𝕴. This was expanded upon and featured so prominently in the Hoenn remakes that almost half of all Mega Evolutions are Pokémon from Hoenn.
As a result, some Mega Evolution mechanics become central to the game. Mega Stones can be found around the region, and some trainers like Wally, Archie, Maxie, Steven, and your rival will now Mega Evolve their Pokémon in certainಌ battles.
Groudon🐻 and Kyogre can also undergo Primal Reversion using their respective items, and Team Magma and Team Aqua no longer take the wrong orb when attempting to control the Legendaries.
7 ⛎ Fairy-ty🎐pe and Type Matchups
Another important element introduced in Gen VI that changed the Hoenn region is the introduction of the Fairy-type. Some Generation III Pokémon were converted to the Fairy-type as ✅well, i🍷ncluding Mawile, Rඣalts, Kirlia, Gardevoir, and Azurill.
This fundamentally changes the type matchup dynamic. Furthermore, Steel no longer ꦜresists Ghost or Dark, a🐻 change introduced in X & Y.
6 ꦏ🐠 New Pokémon
New Pokémon, most notably the evolutions for Gen I, II, or III Pokémon introduced in Gens IV to VI, can now be found in Hoenn. Gen III Pokémon have some new evolutions, like Kirlia into Gallade and Snorunt into Froslass,🌊 while some Gen I and II Pokémon in the regional Hoenn dex can evolve further as well, like 🐼Rhydon into Rhyperior.
Once the Na𝓀tional Dex is obtained, it significantly increases the number of Pokémon that can be caught in Hoenn from 386 in Generation III to 721 in Generation VI.
Notably, Wally now evolves h♏is Ralts into a Gallade rather than a Gardevoir toward the end of the game.
5 ꩲ Day/Night Cycle
Amazingly, Ho♑enn did not have a day/night cycle in Generation III. Both the Hoenn games and the Kanto remakes lacked a visible nighttime period or any way of checking the clock on the go.
Time was recorded in Ruby, Sapphire, anꦏd Emerald, mainly for tracking the growth of berries and the water level in Shoal Cave. Otherwise, though, there was no visible day or night. This woul⛦d be changed from Gen IV on, meaningthe Hoenn remakes do have a day and night cycle.
4 Soaring
Move over, Fly, there's a new sky 🦋travel in town. After obtaining the Eon Flute, the player can summon Latios or Latia🦂s, depending on their game version, to soar through the Hoenn skies.
This allows them to travel between locations, find Mirage Spots, battle fly🔜ing Pokémon, and p♕erform stunts. Being able to fast travel between locations without needing a party Pokémon that knows Fly is arguably the best part.
