Pikachu's giant, bloated body has floated down the streets of Manhattan for years now. Next month, on November 25—Thanksgiving Day—the electric mouse balloon will be accompanied by Eevee in a Pokeball-themed sleigh. It's the first time the parade has featured a Pokemon outside of just Pikachu.
The Pokemon duo will mark The Pokemon Company's fourth balloon design to take part during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Pikachu first started showing up to the holiday parade all the way back in 2001, two decades ago, and the last three balloons have always featured the classic mascot by itself.
The Pokemon Company's international vice president of marketing Colin Palmer noted the shakeup was to celebrate 25 years of Pokemon since the series launch in 1996. "Pikachu remains an icon of the brand," said Palmer. "Its annual appearance in the Macy’s Parade has been delighting fans and families for decades. The introduction of Eevee, known for its unique Evolution abilities, is the perfect Pokemon friend to join Pikachu and represent the brand as we look to the future and all of the fun and adventures which are yet to come.”
Pikachu's big 25th milestone has been celebrated with more than just new building-sized balloons, too. All year long, Pokemon fans delighted in new music videos from pop artists like Ka⛦ty Perry, who s꧟ang her own song titled Electric to celebrate Pikachu, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:L𓆉uanne, who sang Gamer Girl for the anniversary.
