The world of Pokemon is not as bright and welcoming as it first appears. While living in a world filled with magical creatures that can bend the elements to their whims may seem like a dream come true, you also have to realize that these same 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:creatures can level skyscrapers.
While danger is an ever-present force within the Pokemon world, so is tragedy. Not the tragedy of those who find themselves at the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:receiving end of a Gyarados' rage, but the general lives of the world's inhabitants. While every Pokemon has the potential to be dangerous, they have that very same potential to live incredibly sad and tragic lives.
8 🧸 Gengar (Moon)
"It apparently wishes for a traveling companion. Since it was once human itself, it tries to create one by taking the lives of other humans."
Gengar has always gotten a bad rep like many others that share its type. In a lot of its PokeDex entries, Gengar is noted to consume the souls of the living. This of course doesn't help Gengar's case, but Pokemon Moon's PokeDex entry puts some perspective on its actions.
There are many 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:theories surrounding Gengar's origins such as it being the spirit of a dead Clefable, but this particular entry states that it used to be human. Not only is this incredibly sad, but it's only intensified when it states that the entire reason that this Pokemon kills people is so that it could have a friend. Loneliness truly does transcend death.
7 Phantump (Sword) 𝓡
"After a lost child perished in the forest, their spirit possessed a tree stump, causing the spirit's rebirth as this Pokemon."
Ghost-types are notorious for having either horrifying or tragic PokeDex entries. This is to be expected considering they are technically the living spirits of the dead. That being said, out of the numerous ghost types in the games, Phantump has 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of the saddest entries to date.
While it's an unfortunate truth that a great deal of Pokemon entries involves death in some way shape or form, the worse ones involve child death. Phantumps are said to be the results of children getting lost in the woods and dying there. Trainers are catching children and using them for battle. If people were upset that Pokemon perpetuated animal cruelty, people would have a cow if they realized children were participating in these fights.
6 ༒ Spoink (Ruby)
"Spoink bounces around on its tail. The shock of its bouncing makes its heart pump. As a result, this Pokemon cannot afford to stop bouncing - if it stops, its heart will stop."
Looking at this adorable pig Pokemon, you wouldn't think that it leads one of the most cursed existences within the Pokemon world. While it may seem like this Pokemon is literally bouncing for joy at all times, this couldn't be further from the case. According to Pokemon Ruby's PokeDex, Spoink bounces for its own survival.
For its own heart to beat, an action that every living organism is capable of doing without conscious thought or effort, Spoink must continue to bounce. If it stops for a moment to rest or faints in battle, it will go into a cardiac arrest. God forbid a child picks it up to "cuddle the adorable pig". They'd be traumatized for life!
5 Absol (Pl♐atinum)
"Rumored to sense danger with its horn, it became a target. It fled deep into the mountains."
Everybody knows about the stigma about Absol. It's the Disaster Pokemon. The Pokemon senses natural disasters and is scorned by everyone because they believe the dark-type is the source of these disasters. This is practically common knowledge for Pokemon fans, but they never seem to ask how this affects Absol itself.
Yes, it's ostracized by humans, but the Platinum PokeDex goes further by implying that the species as a whole was run out of its home and forced to seclude itself in the mountains. All these Pokemon were trying to do was warn people of impending danger, and it was exiled for their efforts.
4 𝓰 Cubone (Sun) 😼
"When it thinks of its deceased mother, it weeps loudly. Mandibuzz that hear its cries will attack it from the air."
Cubone wearing the skull of his mother is something that has been deemed an undisputed fact among the Pokemon community. It's an incredibly sad and frankly twisted entry in the PokeDex that really had no place in a game like Pokemon, but it has been accepted by Pokemon fans. So, why did developers have to take it a step further?
It's bad enough that a Pokemon is spending its days wailing for its lost mother, but Pokemon Sun adds to this lore by adding the fact that it's targeted because of this. Mandibuzz actively hunts Cubone, targeting 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the small ground types by their loud cries. To make things worse, Mandibuzz being a flying type negates many of Cubone's means of defense, making the poor ground-type truly helpless.
3 Mimiky🍃u (Sword)
"It wears a rag fashioned into a Pikachu costume in an effort to look less scary. Unfortunately, the costume only makes it creepier."
Struggling to fit in is something everyone has gone through at least once in their life. While the degree to which we have struggled varies from person to person, we all know the feeling. The feeling that you need to act a certain way to be accepted. That you have to suppress who you are to feel like you belong. That's what Mimikyu does daily.
Mimikyu is so scared of other people seeing its true form that it hides itself. Granted, this is mainly because those that see its form die horribly, but the Pokemon still craves companionship like any other living being. To keep itself hidden and to fulfill its desire for companionship, it dresses up like everyone's favorite Pokemon, but it's all for naught. Even with its disguise, Mimikyu is subject to a life of isolation.
2 Kadabra (Fire Red) 🗹
"It happened one morning - a boy with extrasensory powers awoke in bed transformed into a Kadabra."
While it's typically ghost-types that have the incredibly tragic PokeDex entries, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kadabra comes in as a ไbit of a surprise. The entire Abra-line are seen as geniuses or masters of the psychic arts, so you wouldn't think that one of them would have some heart-breaking lore about them, but Kadabra proved itself to be different.
While turning into a Pokemon might not seem like a terrible thing, you have to keep in mind that these people are losing their lives. The 🉐moment they become Pokemon, they lose everything. They can no longer speak, their families will no longer recognize them, and they become susceptible to pokeballs. Their entire lives are stolen from them out of nowhere, and t🍒hey are stuck as what is essentially a wild animal for the rest of their lives.
1 ﷽ Mega Kangaskhan (Ultra Moon)
"When the mother sees the back of her mega-evolved child, it makes her think of the day her child will inevitably leave her."
All the PokeDex entries for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:mega evolution are messed up. From Lucario's sudden change in personality to Scizor melting from the intense heat of its own power, it's Kangaskhan's entry that really tugs at the heartstrings.
The mothering Pokemon doesn't experience any physical pain or irreversible trauma, but it does go through its own type of pain. Her child, the one she had carried for so long, doesn't need her anymore. At that moment, it's fully capable of surviving by itself and Kangaskhan, like any mother, can't help but think of the future. A future where her child is no longer with her and for anyone with a kid, that's the most heartbreaking thing imaginable.
