You can see the poll's top ten most popular Pokemon below, with Meowscarada managing to amass an impressive 2,674 votes. Trailing behind quite considerably in second is the ever-adorable Fuecoco with 2,148 votes, while Chandelure surprisingly takes home the bronze medal, just behind Fuecoco slightly with 2,022 votes.
Tinkaton and Clodsire are the other two Scarlet & Violet representatives in the top ten, coming in fifth and eighth respectively, while the rest of the list is made up of consistently popular Pokemon such as Sl🐲yveon, Lucario, Mimikyu, Gengar, and Gardevoir. For example, the newly introduced Ogerpon just missed out on the top ten, coming in eleventh, which is surprising given how little time it's been given to prove itself to Pokemon fans. Ceruledge, Pawmi, and Sprigatito are a few other very popular Scarlet & Violet additions, while Quaxley finds itself down in last place with just 403 votes, making him the least popular starter by a country mile.
Koraidon is ranked just a few places above Miraidon, meaning they're both pretty popular, but the former is the preferred Legendary. Pikachu also makes the list, sitting at position 38, which isn't exactly a great outing from the mascot of the Pokemon series. Still, he's had some stiff competition over the years, and is actually the fourth highest Kanto Pokemon on the list, behind Gengar, Charizard, and Eevee.
If we're going to needlessly overanalyze a poll put together for fun, Meowscarada topping the list could be down to a few factors. To begin with, Meowscarada is just the best starter in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, with a similarly popular pre-evolution that means more people will have statistically used it over others. It's also pretty competitive in battles too, with great speed, attack, a very helpful hidden ability in Protean, and the ability to set up hazards.
It's also just very cute, and to top any list about Pokemon, you need to have a certain charm to your design that activates the part of a person's brain that makes them want to grab something and squish it. The fact the margin is so wide between Meowscarada and Fuecoco is still quite surprising though, and a sign that it may not be dethroned any time soon.
