Poltchageist is a cute, matcha-flavored Grass and Ghost-type Pokemon native to Kitakami in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask. Iꦏts trailer showcased its backstor꧒y as a jar haunted by a lonely tea master, and its propensity to play tricks on people.

This adorable little guy is a convergent form of Sinistea from the Galar region, and even though they might not be directly related, it has the same gimmick when it comes to obtaining Poltchageist's evolution, Sinistcha. This means you'll only be able to evolve two without outside help.

Where To Find Poltchageist

The best place to find Poltchageist will be in areas where there are bunches of bamboo stalks. However, this Pokemon will always be a rare spawn, so you should use a sandwich with Ghost Encounter power to increase the spawn rates if you plan on catchingꩲ a lot of them.

You can find Poltchageiℱst in the follow💙ing locations across Kitakami:

How To Tell The Difference Between Both Forms Of Poltchageist

Two screenshots of the undersides of a counterfeit and antique Poltchageist in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask. The Antique one on the right has a very small mark differentiating it

Like Sinistea before it, Poltchageist commonly spawns as its Counterfeit Form and only sometimes as the much rarer Artisan Form. It has the same rate as the Sinistea Antique form, so roughly one percent of Poltchageist will show in Artisan Form.

If you feel like going the extra mile and tracking down🐭 an antique Poltchageist, there are three tips for you to follow:

  • You can try and crouch down to check the bottom of the jars, as Artisan form Poltchageist has a small seal marking them as legitimate when viewed from the bottom. It can be difficult to angle this, however, and if you run into one, you’ll have to battle it.
  • Another option is auto-battling them, as your auto-battle Pokemon shouldn’t knock out an artisan Poltchageist.
  • Finally, the most tedious but consistent option is just to catch every Poltchageist that spawns until you get one in its Artisan form. When the Pokedex page pops up, it will say whether you’ve got a counterfeit or artisan, so just bring a lot of Quick Balls.

If you’ve beaten the main game and are spawning high-level Polchageist, they will know Memento and can potentially knock themselves out, so ♛if you can’t get it in a♏ quick ball, immediately put it to sleep.

However, both forms require different items 🙈to evolve into ಌSinistcha, and you might need to explore a few places across Kitakami.

How To Evolve Poltchageist Into Sinistcha

An image if a menu in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask. It shows two Poltchageist, but only one can use the Unremarkable Teacup

Poltchageist will evolve only if you use either an Unremarkable Teacup on a Counterfeit form Poltchageist, or a Masterpiece Teacup on an Artisan form Poltchageist.

Where To Find The Unremarkable Teacup

Head to the Paradise Barrens fly point, and from there head inside the cave to your right, where the Unremarkable Teacup will be.

Where To Find The Masterpiece Teacup

Travel to the southeast part of the Timeless Woods. There will be a cave with a Snorlax snoozing in front of it, and after you beat it you can enter the cave to pick up the Masterpiece Teacup.

Once you have the correct teacup, simply open your bag and use it on the appropriate Poltchageist. It will evoဣlve and learn the move Matcha Gotcha upon ev🍃olution.

You can only find one of each teacup across Kitakami. However, Sinistcha does appear in Five and Six Star raids if you want more.
