There are currently eight generations of main series Pokemon games, with each being rather different from the one preceding it. However, through the years, there have been plenty of side games introduced, as well. Many of these side games🏅 have features and mechanics that could easily work in the main series.
Of course, many of them will probably never se🌞e main series recognition, but many of these features would be fantastic to see in some capacity. Here are some of the mechanics from the side games that might work perfectly in a main series Pokemon game.
10 Live Combat (Pokkén Tourn𓄧ament)
A fundamental core pillar🌳 of Pokemon has always been the turn-based combat, and that isn't likely to change anytime soon. However, some games have played around with live combat rather than turn-based,🎐 and there has been some proof of its viability.
The most obvious example 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:of this is Pokkén Tournament, but Pokemon Masters EX is also less turn-based than most Pokemon games. Battles in the anime areꦆ not turn-based either. It would be great to see thiꦗs in a main game, but we likely never will.
9 🐻 Medals (GO)
It's hard to think of something Pokemon GO does better than the main games with all of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:its lovable but frustrating flaws. But, there are a few parts of G💜O that could be emulated elsewhere.
One feature from GO that isn't seen in the main series is the achievements. Achievements are a pillar of video games these days, and it's great to see little bits of trivia and accomplishment about your adventure. Pokemon GO uses Medals to demonstrate t🌺hese accomplis🌺hments, and it would be great to see something similar in a main series game beyond Pokédex stats.
8 Gym Leader Castle (Stadium🍸)
The Pokemon Stadium games were ahead of their time back when they were rไeleased, with the𝔍ir 3D models, fully animated sprites, and much more. One aspect of these games that should be brought to the main series is the Gym Leader Castle.
This challenge tasked the player with fighting through all of the Gym Leaders in succession to achieve total glory. Other features from the main series, like the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Galar Star Tournament and the various iterat🃏ions of Battle Towers somewhat resemble th🗹e Gym Leader Castle, but it still remains totally unique.
7 Starter Choices (Mystery Dungeon) 𝕴
In the anime and a few places within the games, it's shown that some NPCs or other characters have Starter Pokemon that are not one of the three offered to the player. Jessie and James of Team Rocket started with Ekans and Growlithe, respectively; Iris started with a Drilbur; Cilan's starter was a Pansage; and many othꦐers started with completely different starters.
It would be cool if this were implemented in the main series, although it probably never will be. Even expanding the number that the player can choose from would be cool, such as the plethora of options thr🉐oughout the Mystery Dungeon series, though this will probably never happen.
6 🙈 Teaming Up (Masters EX)
The main mechanic of Pokemon Masters EX is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:teaming up with🌱 other traineꦯrs to battle. The player starts by joining Misty and Brock, but they 🌳can be replaced quickly if the player chooses. Throughout the game, several famous trainers from the Pokemon universe can be "synced," such as Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, as w💛ell as many other people of note.
How cool would this be in the main series? Ash Ketchum finds companions to join his adventure, why can't we? The stat trainers in the Sinnoh region are, sadly, probably the close🔥st we'll ever get to this.
5 Talking to Pokemon (Hey You, 🐻Pikachu!) 🍎
Hey You, Pikachu! was truly a game ahead of its time. It allowed the player to buddy up with a Pikachu, play games with it, talk to it, and much more. It was a bit glitchy and hard to use, but it was a 168🦄澳洲幸运5开奖网:unique experience that remains unparallel𓆏ed.
Since the introduction of Pokemon Camp in Sword & Shield, the player can now play with and "talk to" their Pokemon. But, wouldn't it be great if they could actua💎lly be spoken to via a microphone like our old friend Pikac🧔hu from all those years ago?
4 Color Variations (M♋agikarp Jꦆump)
Nothing has garnered more rabid obsession in the fanbase than Shiny hunting. Who could have predicted that Pokemon with slightly-different coloring would become one of the main pillars of the series? Of course, each Shiny Pokemon has a predetermined color that the species will always be when Shiny. For example, Shiny Liepard is always♏ maroon.
It would be incredibly cool if there were more variety with differently-colored Pokemon, like the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:dozens oღf different Magikarp patterns in Magikarp Jump!
3 🐻 Shadow Pokemon (Colo🅰sseum)
There are often extremely cool and well-received mechanics that the Pokemon Company fails to capitalize on in future installments. One of those mechanics is the onset of Shadow Pokemon in Pokemon Colosseum and its even🎀tual sequel, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.
Shadow Pokemon have filtered in💃 again here and there, like the Shadow Mewtwo boss in Pokkén and with Team GO Rocket in P🐼okemon GO. But, the mechanic should definitely be brought back in full in a main series game.
2 🤪 Attracting Pokemon with Cooking (Quest)
One of the only ways — and definitely the primary one — to "catch" Pokemon in t🔯he mobile game Pokemon Quest is to attract them with some delicious food. Adding various ingredients to make different types of stew to a cooking pot will attract Pokemon to your camp, and they'll join your roster.
It seems that there is a very small chance for a wild Pokemon to appear when cooking curry in Sword & Shield, but it's very rare. It would be great if this happened way more often, if not every time, like it does in Pokemon Quest. And, since there are different types of curry, it would be cool if each kind attract🐼ed a different type of Pokemon, l𒐪ike the different meals in Quest do.
1 Open World with Habitats (Snap) 𒀰
For years, Pokemon fans have begged for an open-world game where Pokemon roam around and are visible on the overworld. Sword & Shield have come close to this with the Wi🎶ld Area (and DLC areas), but it just doesn't feel as natural as it could.
Pokemon Snap is arguably the best example of how this could be done, but of course, not through photography. Pokemon in this game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:reside in natural habitats and interact with their surroundings as if they actually exist in a livinꦰg, breathing world. Having to lure them out of their hiding places, uncover new places where Pokemon live, and travel to different areas of a diverse island to find new Pokemon is how it should be. Maybe one day.
