You never forget your first 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokémon generation, and many gamers experienced their first taste of the wild world of Pokémon with the second generation in Gold, Silver, and Crystal. As direct successors to the very first generation, these GameBoy Color titles toyed around♓ 🎀with some pretty unique aspects and Pokémon compared to other generations.
We're now in the thick of the eighth generation with Sword & Shield, which now features a ton of legacy Pokémon due to updates and downloadable content. If you're looking to create a team of exclusively Johto-based Pokémon, here are ten of the very best.
10 Steelix
Players of Red & Blue oftꦑen have distinct memories of battling through Brock's gym for the first time, only to cower in fear whenever Brock sent out the towering rock monster that 𓃲is Onix.
Although, unless you 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:happened to pick Charmander, Onix was a complete joke and has always been one of the worst Pokémon in the series. Steelix came along in Ge🔯neration II 𒀰to try and alleviate Onix's shortcomings, and it does so pretty well with astonishingly high defense, respectable offense, and the ability Sheer Force to give it the extra oomph it needs.
9 Slowking
It's a rare occurrence to see fully evolve🧸d Pokémon be considered worse than one of their previous forms, and the Slowking line happens to be one of these happenings. Even though Slowking is considered worse than its Gen I predecessor, it still brings quite a bit t♚o the table.
Slowking is your typical, tanky Water-type with a bunch of Sp. Def and status-based moves, and its general gameplan either relies on an Assault Vest for being a very tanky attacker, or a more defensive item li꧂ke Leftovers to use while throwingღ out attacks boosted by Calm Mind.
8 Skarmory
Skarmory's stats may not scream "viable Pokémon" at first glance, as every stat besides its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:incredible base 140 defense is unimpressive. However, its moveset allows it to become one of the best stallers and hazard set🎃ters around.
Most Skarmory builds will recommend using Spikes, Whirlwind, and Roost so Skarmory can place hazards, switch out any troublesom꧟e Pokémon, and regain any health th𒉰at it loses along the way. Sturdy allows it to survive even longer than it normally would, and it can give unprepared opponents a lot of trouble.
7 Mantine
The majority of great Water-types in Sword & Shield consist of bulkier, more defensive Pokémon, and Mantine is no different. Mantine's moveset is actually very reminiscent of Skarmory, so Mantine can be thought of⭕ as a Specially Defensive version of Skarmory⛎.
With it being a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Flying-type, Roost and Defog find its way into Mantine's movepool, which are always great꧅ options to have. Haze is one of its best moves, solidifying itself as a great hazard controller. Mantine isn't going to be doing too much in terms of head-on attac🎀king, but Scald's high burn chance is always great to fall back on.
6 Heracross
When looking at all of the Johto Pokémon from a competitive standpoint, Heracross is absolutely one of the most memorable. Heracross has always been a fantastic Pokémon in whichever games it appears in and is still great in Sword & Shield.
Since Heracross was given Guts, which is one of the best abilities arꦉound that some Fighting-types have been blessed with, running a Flame Orb set is a no-brainer. Because of this, attacks like Close Combat and Knock-Off do a ton of damage, especially when powered up by Sword Dance.
5 Celebi
Celebi has the unique potential to do basically whatever the heck it wants, as its privilege as a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:legendary Pokémon gives it a base 10💞0 to every one of its stats. Although Celebi can go in a lot of different directions, having it as a special sweeper i﷽s one of the better options.
Putting max EVs into SP. Atk and Speed allows it to outspeed a lot of its opponents and hit quite hard while it does so. Since it's a sweeper and all, pulling off a Nasty Plot will skyrocket its Sp. Atk to insane heights, where it'ܫll be difficult for oppon❀ents to survive a Psychic or Giga Drain.
4 Blissey
Gen II had a thing for annoyingly bulky Pokémon, where Blissey and Miltank gave players some of the most frustrating experiences in all of the games. Blissey has bar n𒁏one the highest HP stat in the series at a base 255 in exchange for having basically non-existent offenses.
Leftovers are the prime item choice to give it even more tankiness, along with the move Soft Boil and Heal Bell to heal itself and other party members. It actually has more offensive potential than meets the eye, as Seismic Toss does damage based on the user's level, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Toxic is never a bad choice for any Pokémon.
3 Scizor
We're finally in the realm of OU, or Pokémon in the overused tier, which are some of the best Pokémon in the entire game. Although it has a 4x weakness to Fire, wh🌃ich is a pretty common typing, its defenses are still pretty solid and its offenses are even better.
Technician is a fantastic ability that boosts the▨ damage of attacks with a 60 or less base power, making Bullet Punch a phenomenal move. It has a pretty wide range of other attacks to choose from, but it'll do exceedingly well with U-Turn, Knock Off, or Night Slash.
2 Kingdra
Before Gen IV came along and gave tons of new evolutions to existing Pokémon, Gen II did it first with Pokémon like Slowking, Blissey, Scizor, and, of course, Kinꦇgdra. Its stats are good, but not anything to write ꦛhome about. Its true power comes from its abilities and movepool.
Swift Swim and Sniper are both great abilities to give it the utili⛦ty it need𝐆s to succeed, and it does great with items like Choice Specs or a Razor Claw. Hydro Pump, Draco Meteor, and Hurricane are solid attacks, and the new Flip Turn, the Water-type version of U-turn, allows it to switch very safely.
1 Azumarill
Sitting towards the very top of OU, Azumarill has a ton of fantastic qualities to make it feared among Pokémon꧂ competitors. Water/Fairy is one of the best type combinations around. Its stats aren't remarkable, but they're okay.
Azumarill hides its dominating presence in its ability, 🎐Huge Power, and when paired with the move Belly Drum, turns Azumar🐎ill into one of the hardest hitters in the entire game. With a Sitrus Berry, Belly Drum isn't nearly as much of a detriment as it would be otherwise, allowing it to throw out killer Aqua Jets and Play Roughs like nobody's business.
