Since the beginning, Pokémon has been releasing the main series games in pairs such as Red & Blue, Sun & Moon, and now 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sword & Shield. While the paired vers📖ions of each generation are very similar in terms of story, the🐼re are some special Pokémon that can only be caught in one of the versions.
The idea behind having version-exclusive Pokémon is to encourage players to either buy both games or trade Pokémon with friends in order to complete the Pokédex. Knowing which version has which exclusives is a great way to determine whether you should play Sword, Shield, or both.
10 𝄹 Sword: Galarian Darumaka & Darmanitan
In the Galar Region, there are some familiar faces from previous generations who received a brand new Galarian form with different appearances 🔯and types. This is the case for Generation V's Darumaka and Darmanitan, who went from to Ice-types in the Galar Region.
What's unique about these🤡 two exclusives are their signature Abilities. When Darumaka evolves into Darmanitan, it gains either Gorilla Tactics or Zen Mode as its Ability. Gorilla Tactics greatly boosts Darmanitan's Attack stat with the limitations of a Choice Band, and Zen Mode allows 🐎it to become the only current Ice/Fire-type in the game.
9 🍒 🧸 Shield: Galarian Ponyta & Rapidash
While Sword has Darumaka and Darmanitan as their Galarian-form exclusives, Shield has Ponyta and Rapidash. The two horse Pokémon go from fierce Fire-types to majestic Psychic-types with cotton candy manes. Rapidash also acquires an additional 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fairy-typing upon evolving from Ponyta.
Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash keep the same stats as their Kantonian forms, but with their ♊new typing, th♏ey gain new weaknesses. To combat the Rapidash's big weakness to Poison, both Ponyta and its evolution have a signature Ability, Pastel Veil, which prevents them and all their allies from being poisoned.
8 🍌 Sword: Flapple ♋
Applin is a tiny apple Pokémon who can be caught in both versions of Sword & Shield, but it has two different evolutions that require specific in-game items. In order to evolve Applin into Flapple, you need to acquire a Tart Apple, which is normally only found in Sword.
💝Flapple is the speedier and more offensive evolution of Applin and has the signature move, Grav Apple. Grav Apple is when an apple is dropped onto the head of its victim, dealing some good damage while also lowering the opponent's Defense.
7 Shield🌃: App꧟letun
Applin's other evolution is Appletun, who requires a Sweet Apple found only in Shield. In contrast to the small and nimble Flapple, Appletun looks like an apple pie that is quite hefty🤡 and loaded with s♊weet sugar, as pointed out in its Hidden Ability, Thick Fat.
Therefore, while Flapple is speedy and offensive, Appletun is slower and much more defensive. ♎And like Flapple, Appletun also has a signature move, Apple Acid, which is the Special Attack version of Grav Apple. Instead of lowering its opponent's Defense, Appletun's Ap♒ple Acid will lower their Special Defense.
6 🎀 Sword: Sirfetch'd 𝓰
While some Galarian forไms like Darumaka and Ponyta received different variants of already existing evolutions, other Galarian forms like Farfetch'd gained a new and long-awaited evolution.
Since the very first generation, Farfetch'd was always a unique little duck, but it definitely lacked in power without a proper evolution. Finally, Sirfetch'd, the evolution of Farfetch'd, has arrived with a powerful sword and shield, and an even stronger unibrow. Seeing as though the leek sword is its main weapon, it's very fitting that Sirfetch'd can only be found in the Sword version.
5 🎃 Shield: Cursola 🎃
Not to be confused with its pre-evolution, Galarian Corsola, Cursola is a new evolution to an old Pokémon. As opposed to the regular🌞 Water/Rock-type Corsola, the Gala𝓰rian variant and Cursola are both pure Ghost-type Pokémon.
This new Ghost-type, unfortunately, stems from climate change and its harsh effects on coral reefs. But on the bright side, Cursola is a very big upgrade from what Corsola was in previous generations. Corsola was always known as a bulky Pokémonꦍ, but Cursola now excels further in Special Defense and Special Attack to be a true offensive threat.
4 🍎 Sword: Stonjourner ﷺ
Stonjourner is an inte🥀resting new Pokémon based on the standing stones of Stonehenge. It comes with thick legs and great supportive assetꦯs in Double Battles.
With great ba♍se stats in HP, Attack, and Defense, Stonjourner is a physical threat in areas of both offense and defense. However, its Ability, Power Spot, boosts the power of its allies' attacks, making it an incredible teammate for passive support. It can also learn Wide Guard, which protects its team from common꧂ spread moves like Earthquake. With its great defenses, Stonjourner can take many physical attacks in order to keep powering up and protecting its allies.
3 ౠ Shield: Ei🐽scue
It is 𒊎fairly rare, but some Pokémon have the ability to change forms during battle. Eiscue, the penguin Pokémon, seemingly has an ice cube for a head until it gets smacked by a physical move. Only ෴then is it revealed that Eiscue has a much smaller and rounder head with the same single strand of hair sticking out of it.
The Ice Face, however, serves a very ဣimportant defensive role in battle. It will fully protect Eiscue from the first physical attack that hits it before shattering. In addition, its effect can be restored in a hailstorm.
2 Sword: Zacian 𒁃 𒆙
Zacian is one of two legendaཧry dogs of the Galar Region. In its "Hero of Many Battles" form, it is a pure Fairy-type with some stylish braids. However, when it holds the Rusted Sword in its mouth, it turns into its Crowned Sword form with more armor and an added Steel-typing.
In addition, with the Rusted Sword, Zacian's Iron Head turns into a stronger move, Behemoth Blade. In a region of nonstop Dynamax and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Gigantamax, Behemoth Blade is the perfect counter as a move that double🌳s in power against foes in their respective giant forms.
1 Shield: Za🍰mazenta
As the Shield counterpart to Zacian, Zamazenta, too, has been hailed a warrior hero of the Gᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚalar Region. It starts out in its "Hero of Many Battles" form as a Fighting-type, but gains armor and the Steel-typing as a result of holding the Rusted Shield.
Like Zacian, Zamazenta also has a move, Behemoth Bash, that hits Dynamaxed or Gigantamaxed Pokémon with double the power. And to add to the shield aspect of this legendary Pokémon, Zamazenta has much higher defenses than Zacian💃, as well as an Ability that naturally boosts its Defense further.
